School Nurse Specialist, Social Emotional & Behavioural Difficulties Central and North West London NHS Foundation Trust is looking for a specialist school nurse to help improve the School Nursing Support we offer to the H3 Federation schools (Harmood School and Heath School), Gloucester House, and Robson House. Job Overview This role supports children and young people with special educational needs and those with emotional, behavioural and social difficulties who may have been excluded from mainstream schools. Main Duties You will be part of a skill mix team of school nursing professionals to deliver the “Healthy Child Programme From 5–19 years old (DOH 2009).” The post holder will work in partnership with professionals from multiple agencies to meet the health needs of this specific population of children and young people, together with their families and the wider community where relevant. You will also coordinate the health needs of any Camden children who are under a Child Protection plan and are not currently attending a Local Authority maintained school. Person Specification Education and Qualifications RN (paediatric branch) / RMN NMC Registered School Nurse Certificate Evidence of CPD in appropriate field Desirable qualifications Specialist Community Public Health Nurse (School Nursing, Children’s Community Nursing of Health Visiting) Specialist Sexual Health or Substance Misuse Training Previous Experience Sufficient post registration experience in a children’s/paediatric setting to allow effective multi‑agency working in PRU settings. Experience working with diverse communities. Significant experience with children with social, emotional and behavioural difficulties. Experience supporting children with complex needs such as child protection and mental/emotional health. Experience working in multi‑agency/integrated teams. Desirable experience Experience within a Pupil Referral Unit. Mentorship / teaching or preceptorship for students or newly qualified staff. Skills and Knowledge Excellent written and verbal communication, including ability to communicate with a diversity of people. IT literacy. Knowledge of the current Public Health Outcome Framework. Knowledge of children’s special needs (emotional health, educational support, etc). Equity and valuing diversity. Quality monitoring including audit, risk management and indicators of effective practice.
