Overview An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced, motivated, and enthusiastic Band 5 Staff Nurse to join any of our friendly haematology wards at Midland Metropolitan University Hospital (MMUH) on a full‑time permanent basis. Ward Details The ward is a 16‑bedded unit that consists of all side rooms. It cares for patients with a variety of malignant and non‑malignant haematological disorders, Sickle Cell and Thalassemia conditions. The department works with a team of specialist consultants, nurses and AHPs who collectively provide a comprehensive service covering diagnosis, treatment, symptom control, management and end‑of‑life care. Qualifications Registered nurse Previous oncology / haematology experience (desirable) Evidence of the administration of IV medications and chemotherapy (SACT passport) Experience of intravenous cannulation and venepuncture (desirable – full training will be given) Responsibilities Plan, document, deliver and evaluate evidence‑based nursing care for patients in a responsible and efficient way, in conjunction with the shift coordinator and daily running of the ward. Develop a greater awareness and understanding of the needs of patients with cancer and the different treatment modalities administered within the ward. Develop an understanding of the roles and responsibilities of managing a shift with guidance of the Ward Sister / Charge Nurse.
