Senior Research Associate – UNSW Join to apply for the Senior Research Associate role at UNSW. Employment Type: Full‑time (35 hours a week) Duration: 2‑year fixed term contract Remuneration: Level B from $127,947 base (plus 17% superannuation and annual leave loading) Visa: Full Australian working rights required for the duration of the contract Location: Kensington Campus, Sydney NSW Why this role matters A Senior Research Associate (Level B) with mixed‑methods research expertise is expected to conduct independent and/or team research in trauma care, focusing on management of traumatic fractures in resource‑constrained settings. The position reports to the Professor and has no direct reports. Responsibilities Engage in individual and/or collaborative research in line with disciplinary practice. Create scholarly impact recognised by peers for advancing disciplinary knowledge. Conduct research under limited supervision, independently or as a team member. Establish a personal research portfolio and begin developing independent research proposals. Contribute to the development of applications for competitive funding under senior guidance. Participate as co‑investigator or chief investigator in grant applications, demonstrating active research collaborations funded by competitive grants. Lead qualitative data management within the process evaluation of the 5‑country HIPCARE trial under Australian investigators. Develop and maintain qualitative data management tools and processes for the HIPCARE trial sites. Analyse qualitative data, interpret findings, and draft manuscripts with qualitative researchers at HIPCARE trial sites and Australian investigators. Contribute to research processes, liaise with study investigators and analysts, and help prepare manuscripts for the Inormus Study. Key Skills and Experience A PhD in a related discipline and/or relevant work experience. Proven commitment to staying up to date with discipline knowledge and developments. Track record in research on hip fracture care and/or healthy ageing, especially in low and middle‑income settings. Developed peer networks in orthopaedic research across the Asia‑Pacific region. Expertise in designing, conducting, and analysing qualitative research using rigorous, ethical, and participatory methods. Track record of significant involvement with the profession and/or industry. High‑level communication skills and ability to network effectively with students and staff. Proven ability to write, edit, and publish high‑quality scientific manuscripts in peer‑reviewed journals. Demonstrated ability to work in a team, collaborate across disciplines, and build effective relationships. Evidence of highly developed interpersonal and organisational skills.
