Job Summary3> We have an exciting opportunity for a Band 5 Dietitian to join our acute inpatient team at Charity Society. We are a proactive department with a strong focus on service improvement, digital advancement and staff development. We provide a preceptorship programme, regular clinical supervision and a range of CPD opportunities to support career progression. Main duties of the job The post holder will provide dietetic care to inpatient wards within CDDFT. Based at Darlington Memorial Hospital, the role also requires travel to Bishop Auckland Hospital and may involve general dietetic clinics, telephone clinics and other acute ward work. The post will rotate into bariatric Dietetics and frailty inpatients and will support extended scope practice in enteral tube feeding. About Us We provide hospital services from two acute sites – Darlington Memorial Hospital and University Hospital of North Durham – and operate a centre for planned care in Bishop Auckland. We also deliver care from community hospitals in Chester‑Le‑Street, Shotley Bridge, Barnard Castle, Sedgefield and Weardale, plus more than 80 other community settings and patient homes. County Durham is an excellent place to live, with beautiful countryside, coastlines, and convenient transport links to Newcastle and York. Job Responsibilities Manage your own caseload referred to the service by inpatient, community or secondary care professionals. Provide care in hospital wards, outpatient clinics, and telephone clinics. Work closely with other Dietitians and multidisciplinary team members. Use electronic patient records – Cerner for in‑patients, MDT clinics and consultant‑led outpatients, SystmOne for community settings. Support and coordinate dietetic student training (A, B and C placements) and assessment. Contribute to team‑based service structures across secondary care, bariatrics, primary care, diabetes, home enteral feeding and paediatric weight management. Experience – Essential Successful completion of dietetic placements. Experience – Desirable Experience of clinical audit. Experience of working within a hospital environment. Special Requirements – Essential Ability to meet the travel requirements of the post. Statutory Registration – Essential Registered with the Health Care Professions Council. Statutory Registration – Desirable Member of the British Dietetic Association. Qualifications – Essential BSc(hons) / BSc / Diploma in Dietetics. Special Skills & Knowledge – Essential IT skills including Word and Excel or equivalent. Special Skills & Knowledge – Desirable Experience of using SystmOne and Cerner or other electronic patient record systems.
