Company Description Water Utility Company based in Yorkshire region of England. Job Description Network Operations Technician. Location Malton area in North Yorkshire. Approximately 30‑40 minutes from Malton wastewater site. Work type Permanent role with rotational 40‑hour work patterns on a 4 on 4 off basis (no standby). Includes late, early and weekend work. What we do We provide water and wastewater services for over 5.4 million residents and visitors in the Yorkshire region, protecting communities and the environment round the clock. Where you fit in As a field‑based Network Operations Technician you will: Deliver first‑time fixes and same‑day solutions for customer and environmental issues. Maintain the sewerage network, investigate and prevent sewage escapes. Work closely with Yorkshire Water teams and contract partners to resolve operational problems. Operate various vehicle types as required. Use IT systems to collate information, report evidence, and capture data. Compose accurate reports and assess photographs, plans and data related to network issues. Install and maintain Customer Sewer Alarms and work with third‑party providers. Adhere to health and safety procedures and manage risks using POWRA. Make cost‑effective decisions and provide first‑line response to customer contacts. Requirements Practical mindset, enjoy outdoor work and hands‑on tasks. Previous customer service experience with face‑to‑face communication. Ability to develop and maintain effective internal and external working relationships. Proactive in questioning unsafe working practices and reporting them. Excellent communication skills and experience delivering against target metrics. Strong problem‑solving and basic IT skills using tools such as Toughbook. Rotational flexibility, including possible out‑of‑hours standby rota. Medical clearance for confined spaces (BMI, vision, blood pressure, hearing, spirometry). Full, valid driving licence with no more than six points. Additional Skills / Benefits Understanding of sewerage system performance. Competent use of IT systems applicable to Yorkshire Water. Benefit from previous experience in water, wastewater, utilities or related sectors. Flexible working patterns and job‑share options when possible. Competitive salary £30,384‑£37,880 (40 h). Annual incentive up to £1,000. 12% pension contribution. 25 days annual leave plus bank holidays and one wellness day. Life assurance, health cash plan, critical illness, dental, partner cover.
