As an Engineer within our Marine Engineering team you will be involved in projects across the lifecycle of various types of vessels, primarily special, lightweight and high‑speed vessels for both UK and international customers. Your responsibilities will include: System design and equipment selection development and integration using 2D and 3D modelling; Surveys to support design changes and investigations; Engineering investigations to resolve in‑service defects and safety issues; Project management of engineering tasks and projects; Engaging with the wider industry; You will influence designs and team processes to improve designs, build quality and efficiency. Your day‑to‑day work will include design of mechanical systems and arrangements with supporting calculations, supporting the review of production engineering 3D models, inter‑departmental communication and liaison with suppliers, partners and clients to develop design solutions. About You Candidates will have an HNC/HND and/or a Degree (or equivalent) in a relevant discipline (Mechanical or Marine Engineering). You will ideally be professional qualified (registered as a Chartered Engineer with an appropriate professional body or Incorporated) or demonstrate you are on the path for registration. You will be commercially aware, ensuring that works are being carried out to an appropriate standard and level of detail. You will produce clear and well‑presented drawings and calculations to a high quality. A high degree of initiative and autonomy is essential for this rewarding role, to meet agreed targets and deliverable deadlines. Essential Skills Minimum of three years relevant design experience in the marine commercial industry for vessels in the range 15‑70m+. Understanding of the integration of ship systems and equipment within ships or marine platforms. Proficient in AutoCAD 2D, ideally skilled in 3D CAD software, and proficient in Microsoft programmes. Good analytical and problem‑solving skills with experience leading technical projects to time, cost and quality. Desirable Skills Defence domain experience. Ability to coach and mentor less experienced staff. Experience of PLM software or document management processes. What's Next?
