You will thrive if you are a fast learner with a strong news sense and plenty of enthusiasm, as well as a good understanding of Telegraph Money readers and their concerns.The role will focus on writing practical "news you can use" pieces as well as telling the stories of real people as a means of giving readers expert advice on how to grow, keep and pass on more of their money and other financial assets. Key ResponsibilitiesPitching, reporting and writing stories for Telegraph Money, to be published online and in printWriting in a range of formats - primarily expert advice and guides to Money topics, but also news, analysis and case study-led series (such as Money Makeovers, Moral Money, Rate My Portfolio and so on)Developing original and compelling ideas and creative ways to present them - which could include graphics, calculators, video etcMonitoring reader correspondence via email, story comments, post and social - and using this as a prompt for idea generationMonitoring analytics to understand what stories work and howSpotting stories or digital projects from raw numbersTaking on other responsibilities to help the team meet targets and produce the best quality journalismWorking collaboratively with colleagues on other desks where appropriate Essential skillsAn excellent, accurate writer across a range of styles and formatsNumerateFull of original ideasExperienced with writing, reporting and developing ideasAble to explain and convey complex subjects clearly and comprehensivelyOrganised, enthusiastic and willing to be part of our happy and successful teamAble to find new ways to cover the same topics or issuesWilling to take initiative and work well under pressureNews-aware and alive to the interests of our audienceA network of contacts across the spectrum of core personal finance topics including mortgages and property finance, investing, tax, pensions, banking and insuranceKnowledge and experience of a particular personal finance beat The nature of our industry means life at the Telegraph Media Group is fast-paced, demanding, and interesting.
