This averages to 3.5 days per week with an annualised average of 42 hours per week.Purpose Of The RoleAs a Multi Skilled Engineer operating from a well-established animal feed mill, you will optimise machinery output and product quality, and minimise plant downtime through effective preventative maintenance and efficient response whilst maintaining a safe and healthy environment and promoting good engineering practices. The role is predominantly factory based in a fast-paced, dynamic feed manufacturing environment which is noisy and dusty in some areas, with hygiene standards being critical.Your key responsibilities as a Multi Skilled Engineer will include:Carry out Planned Preventative Maintenance and Breakdown/Reactive Maintenance of Plant and EquipmentEnsure the Engineering maintenance carried out in line with the current schedule and effective and efficient corrective action is takenQuick and effective response to breakdowns, where possible identifying root cause and suggesting possible improvements to prevent further breakdowns occurringCommunicate unscheduled breakdowns to Management and work with the operations department to minimise plant disruptionRecord and identify spare parts that have been used through CMMS and to Engineering ManagerFollow good engineering standards and good hygiene practice for the department across the whole siteEnsure Maintenance and Engineering practices are audit compliantEnsure all activities are carried out within company and legislative health and safety and environmental guidelines reporting any issuesEnsure compliance through regular process weigher and Liquid meter calibrations (weights and measures Act)Proficient in engineering operations whilst working in hazardous environments (Confined Space Entry, Hot working in confined spaces, Hot working, WAH)Participate in Mechanical projects and installations - Elevators, conveyors, machine installs, machine refurbishmentParticipate in Electrical projects and installations - Panel manufacture and installation, PLC upgrades, PAT testing, thermographic surveyingEfficient operations of effluent plant systems ensuring environmental complianceUnderstand the operations of fire suppression systems - Fire Trace, Sprinkler system, Hydrant systemDemonstrate understanding of environmental impacts - DSEAR, Dust controls and Explosion mitigationWhat We Are Looking ForTime served Multi-skilled Apprenticeship in a relevant engineering disciplineProactive and dynamic approach to safetyGood diagnostic and problem-solving skillsAbility to work under pressure whilst having a high attention to detailFlexibility with a positive attitude and the ability to work well within a small teamFood manufacture experience desirableIEE 17th or 18th Edition desirablePLC experience desirablePneumatic and Hydraulic experience desirableBoiler Operator Accreditation Scheme (BOAS) certification desirableA Little About UsAvara Foods is one of the UK’s largest food businesses, supplying chicken and turkey to the nation’s most popular supermarkets and restaurants.
