Location Brentwood, United Kingdom Role Summary We are hiring an experienced Warehouse / Yard Supervisor to manage day‑to‑day operations of yard and material store. You will lead a small team, control stock and site deliveries, operate plant and forklifts, and ensure safe, efficient handling of materials to support project programmes. This is a hands‑on supervisory role reporting to the Operations Manager. Key Responsibilities Supervise yard and store operations including receiving, storing, picking and issuing materials and plant. Schedule and coordinate deliveries and collections with suppliers, subcontractors and site teams. Operate forklift and other light plant for loading/unloading and safe movement of materials. Maintain accurate stock records, carry out stock counts and report discrepancies. Allocate daily tasks, coach and directly supervise yard operatives and drivers. Enforce site and yard health & safety procedures; carry out regular inspections and risk assessments. Ensure yard is organised, secure and maintained (fuel, spill kits, waste segregation where applicable). Prepare paperwork and records for materials, plant movements and vehicle checks. Liaise with procurement and site management to prioritise materials for critical activities. Support continuous improvement initiatives to reduce waste, damage and delays. Required Experience and Qualifications Minimum 2 years proven experience in a yard/warehouse supervisory role within civils, construction, utilities or heavy industry. Valid forklift licence. Strong knowledge of safe manual handling, storage of bulk materials and site H&S requirements. Experience supervising small teams and coordinating logistics for multiple projects. Good numeracy and IT literacy to manage stock records and basic reporting (Excel or warehouse system). Full UK driving licence and ability to travel locally to project sites when required. Skills and Behaviours Organised, decisive and able to prioritise under pressure. Strong communicator with the ability to coordinate between site teams, drivers and suppliers. Practical, hands‑on approach with attention to detail and care for material condition. Proactive about health & safety and promoting safe working standards. Reliable, flexible with a positive attitude to weekend or early starts if operationally required. Salary & Benefits Salary: £40,000 - £42,000 per year. Company pension and statutory benefits.
