Overview Join us for the Summer Placement - Waste & Logistics role at Buro Happold. This 8‑week placement takes place during Summer 2026 and can be held in either our Edinburgh or London office. Exact start dates are flexible and will be agreed with the candidate and team. About the Waste & Logistics Team The Waste & Logistics team works on multi‑disciplinary projects within infrastructure, environment, water, transport and buildings. We advise on matters such as materials consumption, waste generation, circular supply and demand, goods delivery, waste collection and waste treatment/recovery – often in a pre‑ or post‑building planning context. In essence we design sustainable waste and logistics strategies that benefit future communities. What will I do? Contribute to developing operational waste and logistics strategies for new developments. Carry out research and analysis studies related to waste and goods management. Write technical reports and estimate waste and goods demands. Assist with project management, including budgets for specific assignments and projects. About you Ideally you are a university student studying towards a degree or master’s level in a relevant discipline such as Environmental Sciences, Waste Management, Logistics, Behavioural Sciences, Geography or Sustainable Development. Demonstrable passion and enthusiasm for the better management of materials and waste are essential. Awareness of key environmental issues affecting building operations. Understanding of the construction sector and ability to interpret engineering and planning drawings. Proficiency in Excel and standard office software. Pro‑active attitude toward project work and support of other leaders. Time‑management skills and maintaining good relationships with stakeholders. While we support hybrid working, we encourage learning from peers in the office – 4 days per week in the preferred office. What's in it for you?
