Innovation Reliefs Assistant Manager – RSM UK Join our fast‑growing audit, tax and consulting firm as a key member of the National Innovation & Capital Tax Reliefs Team. Based in one of our UK offices (Manchester, Liverpool, Preston, Leeds or Stoke), you will work across all sectors—manufacturing, engineering, life sciences, software and digital technologies—to support companies in preparing successful R&D tax relief claims. Responsibilities Develop claim methodologies and manage the preparation of R&D tax relief claims for submission to HMRC. Coordinate and lead meetings with clients, advising on R&D tax relief and assisting with identification of qualifying activities and expenditure. Analyze and compile high‑quality qualifying R&D expenditure calculations. Write technical descriptions of client projects for inclusion in reports, following DSIT guidelines. Collaborate with the wider team and support business development opportunities. Ensure the R&D engagement team is fully updated on progress and any issues that may affect the client relationship. Work collaboratively with other members of the IR team regionally and nationally. Qualifications Relevant professional qualification (or working towards), e.g. CA, ACA and/or CTA. In‑depth knowledge of Innovation Reliefs. Experience preparing and submitting R&D tax relief claims across sectors, with understanding of different claim methodologies and industry‑specific challenges. Strong technical knowledge of the UK’s R&D tax incentives. Ability to draft clear and concise project technical descriptions referencing DSIT guidelines. Capacity to manage multiple projects simultaneously. Experience responding to HMRC enquiries. What We Offer Hybrid and flexible working. 26 days holiday, with the option to purchase additional days.
