Class Teacher (Part Time) – Maternity Cover Job Title: Class Teacher Part Time: 0.6 FTE – Wednesday, Thursday & Friday Fixed Term: Maternity Cover – until the end of the summer term 2026 Start Date: 23rd February 2026 Location: St Edmund’s Catholic Primary SchoolWestgate Street, Bury St Edmunds, IP33 1QG Salary: MPS/UPS St Edmund’s Catholic Primary School is seeking a class teacher to join our dedicated team covering a year 1 class for three days a week alongside an experienced co‑class teacher. The successful candidate will bring their expertise and knowledge of the primary curriculum to ensure pupils enjoy a knowledge‑rich learning experience which promotes inclusion, diversity and excellence. Join an established federation of two primary schools where shared planning and assessment support staff well‑being. Curriculum teams work across the federation to provide opportunities for collaboration, coaching and mentoring. We welcome staff who share and support the Catholic ethos of our school. The Federation is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and requires all staff and volunteers to demonstrate this commitment in every aspect of their work. The successful candidate will need to undertake a DBS check. Responsibilities Teach and support pupils in a Year 1 class for three days a week Work in partnership with an experienced co‑class teacher Plan, deliver and assess lessons in line with the primary curriculum Participate in shared planning and assessment across the federation Contribute to a welcoming and productive school atmosphere Qualifications Qualified teacher of primary education (or equivalent) Experience teaching Year 1 or early primary stage Strong knowledge of the primary curriculum and inclusive teaching practices Committed to the Catholic ethos of the school Will be able to undertake a DBS check Application Process This post is a maternity cover until the end of the summer term 2026.
