SEMH Behaviour Support Assistant Pay: £90-£110 per day (PAYE, No umbrella companies) Location: Barking & Dagenham Contract: Full-time / Long term Are you someone who stays calm when situations get intense… who notices progress no matter how small… and genuinely wants to help young people manage their emotions and behaviour? If so, we want to hear from you. This isn’t your typical school role. You’ll be supporting pupils with SEMH needs, helping them navigate big feelings, challenging moments, and daily routines, while unlocking their potential. What you’ll be doing Providing 1:1 and small group support for pupils aged 5–16 Supporting young people with emotional regulation and positive behaviour strategies Using restorative approaches to manage challenging behaviour Encouraging confidence, communication, and social skills Working closely with a supportive team that celebrates every step forward What we’re looking for Experience in SEMH, behaviour support, youth work, PRUs, or care settings A calm, patient, and nurturing approach Ability to build trust safely and consistently Warm communication skills with the ability to set clear, kind boundaries What you’ll get from us Pay: £90-£110 per day (Weekly PAYE) Free CPD including behaviour, de-escalation & trauma-informed training A dedicated consultant to support you throughout your journey Long-term opportunities in specialist and alternative provision settings If you want a role where your presence truly makes a difference, where every day brings new challenges, and where you can help young people thrive… this could be the role for you.
