Team Profile Wood Mackenzie’s Power and Renewables research team offers integrated subscription, research, and advisory services to inform and support clients’ commercial and strategic decisions within the complex and rapidly changing supply chain landscape. Combining deep knowledge of solar, wind, storage, conventional power and grid technologies with global power and fuels modelling, we provide insights spanning supply chain, technology costs, policy and market issues, fundamentals‑based outlooks, price forecasting, asset valuation, and commodity market issues. Role Purpose The role will deliver research and analysis on the energy storage supply chain and technology. It will lead the development and operation of energy storage supply chain models, processes, databases and reports for the growing Lens Storage product. Areas of coverage include cell manufacturer, inverter, and integrator landscapes, emerging technologies and cost modelling for storage technologies. The analyst will collaborate with global energy storage team members, ensuring successful collaboration and a customer‑first approach, and will play a leading role in the evolution of WoodMac’s coverage in response to changing customer needs and industry dynamics. Main Responsibilities Lead datasets and model maintenance, content generation and product roadmap development across the energy storage supply chain and technology. Provide a leadership role within the energy storage supply chain and technology, and more broadly, the global energy storage team; coach and mentor others, ensuring a growth mindset and setting the right example for the group. Develop original market research and analysis that culminates in client deliverables and industry thought‑leadership pieces. Drive integration with wider Wood Mackenzie teams to ensure a single source of truth related to Wood Mackenzie’s energy transition views. Establish, maintain and develop further senior customer relationships, ensuring WoodMac is the go‑to company for energy storage supply‑chain and technology analysis through calls, client visits and conference participation. Collaborate with peers across Wood Mackenzie to support cross‑technology research reports, consulting projects, marketing services and editorial coverage. Knowledge, Skills and Experience 5+ years of energy‑industry work and/or graduate experience, with 3+ years specifically in battery energy storage systems technology and supply chain. Understanding of energy storage technologies and supply chain, including trends, technology development across long and short duration systems, pricing and technology cost modelling, trade policies, and supply‑chain company strategies. Passionate about renewable energy with strong knowledge of the sector and markets. Strong analytical capabilities, both qualitative and quantitative; fluent with Excel and PowerPoint; coding and programming experience (Python, R, etc.) is a plus. Strong networking skills and the ability to develop relationships with key industry stakeholders. Intellectually curious and able to think critically about the effect of a wider business landscape. Ability to work independently and effectively within a global team. Strong organisational skills and an eye toward collaboration. Fluency with reading, writing and communicating in English.
