This high‑impact role supports our principal customer by ensuring effective management of measurement equipment and processes across diverse operations. Your work will be key to maintaining product quality and safety, reinforcing Babcock’s reputation for excellence.Day‑to‑day, you’ll conduct calibration and testing of measurement instruments, support protocol development, ensure ISO 17025/10012 compliance, complete documentation, and guide trainees to deliver accurate, timely records.Perform calibration and testing of Dimensional, Torque, Mass, Pressure, and Temperature instruments across Dockyard and Fleet Support.Support development and delivery of measurement protocols, data sheets, and calibration procedures.Complete calibration certificates and reports for all work undertaken.Ensure facility compliance with ISO 17025 (UKAS accredited) and ISO 10012 standards.Provide technical guidance to trainees, ensuring adherence to procedures and timely completion of calibration records.This role is full time, 35 hours per week and is based on site at Devonport Royal Dockyard.Essential experience of the calibration engineerExtensive experience with mechanical, temperature, and pressure instruments in precision measurement environments.Strong understanding of ISO 17025 and UKAS accreditation, with proven documentation and calibration procedure skills.Proficient in Excel‑based uncertainty budgets and electronic workflows using standard IT and Office tools.Detail‑oriented and methodical, delivering consistent, high‑quality results with professionalism and integrity.Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for effective collaboration across teams and with customers.Qualifications for the calibration engineerNVQ Level 4 or equivalent professional status, or substantial experience in a relevant engineering discipline.Completion of a recognised apprenticeship in a related field is preferred.Security ClearanceThe successful candidate must be able to achieve and maintain Standard (BPSS) security clearance for this role.Many of the positions within our company are subject to national security clearance and Trade Control restrictions.
