Shift Leader – Data Centre Operations (JLL) We are looking for a seasoned professional to lead the engineering shift team at our critical data centre facility. The successful candidate will bring a deep knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and plumbing infrastructure in a critical environment and will lead inspection, operation, and maintenance to ensure risk management and service quality. Key Responsibilities As the shift leader, you will: Supervise, coordinate and support the site‑based engineering team, covering internal and MEP responsibilities. Operate all facility systems efficiently, including HV & LV switching operations, and provide concise technical reports. Control activities related to the technical and efficient operation of installed building systems, ensuring compliance with statutory regulations. Prepare and plan specialist vendor work, including planned, reactive and corrective works, and ensure change management approvals. Review and sign off vendor worksheets, inspect quality of work, and communicate recommendations. Act as engineering relief cover during emergencies, which may involve temporary shift work. Ensure the team and vendors comply with contractual SLAs. Operate Corrigo CMMS system, completing MEP PPM, reactive and corrective work orders within SLA. Attend weekly operations meetings and client meetings as required. Report engineering risk and critical systems availability daily. Complete shift handover reports with accurate documentation. Control critical spares inventory, audit stock levels, and procure spares. Compile incident and near‑miss reporting and after‑action reviews. Escalate critical equipment issues immediately following local site process. Review vendor service reports and chase recommendations. Produce site‑specific SOP/MOP/EOP documents. Assist the Chief Engineer with scenario training and develop team engineers. Contribute to continuous improvement of safe systems of work and HSE compliance. Escalate vendor performance issues accurately. Communicate technical and legislative updates to team members. Maintain minimum staffing levels and arrange suitable cover/replacement. Liaise with supply chain for M&E components. Support training as per the account training matrix. Coach new employees during onboarding. Participate in the Quality Assurance process, auditing completed work orders. Fulfill responsibilities per the site‑based MEP responsibilities matrix. Personal Specification Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in critical environments such as banking HQ and data centres. Authorised Person (High Voltage & Low Voltage). Electrical/Mechanical Engineering HNC or HND, or completion of a relevant apprenticeship. Certified in C&G Pts.1 & 2, or equivalent. Knowledge of 18th Edition IET Wiring and Installation, C&G 2391 Inspection, Test and Certification, and BS 7671 (current edition). Strong communication skills across all staff levels. Ability to lead, motivate and direct a small team of engineers. Willingness to attend on‑site and off‑site training, including overnight stays for authorised person training. Comprehension of verbal and written instructions. Enthusiasm, pro‑activity, diligence, and alertness with a willingness to engage in internal training programmes.
