Occupational Therapy Healthcare Support Worker An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Health and Community Support Worker (HCSW) to join our Intermediate Care Team as part of the Integrated Community & Support Services (ICASS) in the St Andrews locality. The Intermediate Care Service provides rehabilitation to the adult population within the locality, delivered to service users as in‑patients, out‑patients or within their own homes. The primary function of this role is to work with the Occupational Therapy Service within Intermediate Care to deliver therapeutic treatment programmes to service users in the ward setting or their homes, preventing hospital admission and supporting early discharge from hospital. Occupational Therapists provide specialist assessments to this patient group and allocate work to you. You will have an SVQ Level III in Health and Social Care or equivalent. Experience working as a Physiotherapy and/or Occupational Therapy support worker is desirable. Experience working with older people is particularly desirable, as they are the main group of service users referred. Working as part of a supportive multidisciplinary team you will be expected to carry out ongoing treatment programmes for a mixed caseload of mainly older people. Good organisational skills, excellent communication skills and the ability to work independently as well as within the team are essential. There may be occasions where you will be required to work in one of the other community hospital sites. Public holiday working is in operation. Our service offers regular supervision, professional development (PDP) and training opportunities. The ability to travel throughout the area is essential as this involves community work. For informal enquiries, please contact Elizabeth Wright, Occupational Therapy Team Lead at 01334 465756 or elizabeth.wright5@nhs.scot.
