This is a post of strategic significance for our business and represents a challenging and exciting opportunity to identify, win and deliver multidisciplinary inputs to a range of energy projects for a wide client base. Our current project portfolio includes some of the UK’s most important and transformational infrastructure projects at the heart of helping the UK to meet its commitments to Net Zero. We need people with a creative spirit, a dedicated approach and a solid grounding in environmental design, assessment and management at any stage of the development project lifecycle.As one of the largest environmental consultancies in the UK, WSP works on challenging and high-profile projects across sectors, from small developments to major national infrastructure schemes. Our Environmental Management and Assessment Team oversees and manages the environmental inputs to these schemes, with involvement through their lifecycle. ResponsibilitiesLead and direct environmental teams and inputs to project designs and assessments across multiple sectors.Improve environmental performance for a diverse range of projects.Direct and lead projects including recruitment, bidding, project team management, project delivery, and financial management.Expand and diversify our offer in the water sector, collaborating with sector leads and client account managers to provide thought leadership and win new business.Provide environmental advice and support to clients, project managers and colleagues.Collaborate with colleagues, environmental specialists, clients and engineering teams to promote sustainable design and environmental enhancement.Lead large, complex projects, overseeing technical, quality, commercial and health and safety performance.Build client relationships and identify opportunities for resourcing, programming, strategy development and project delivery.Develop new client relationships and market services, including presenting at conferences on behalf of WSP.Secure new work through proposals for complex opportunities, strategic bids and framework opportunities, and business development activities.Lead and contribute to development of innovative techniques to shape the business, e.g., Digital EIA, Technical Excellence, Future Ready EIA.Drive performance improvement and career advancement across the team.Promote team culture and be a go-to person within the wider team, supporting problem solving and achieving goals.Promote an inclusive workplace with a strong health and safety culture.Contribute to WSP business strategy while remaining self-motivated toward role-, team-, and project-related goals.What We Will Be Looking For You To DemonstrateRelevant environmental or planning degree or equivalent experience.Demonstrable experience in EIA delivery for major water schemes.Familiarity with other consenting processes such as Habitats Regulations Assessments and SSSI Consents.Thorough knowledge of a diverse range of environmental issues.Proven line management experience.Proven track record of developing and upskilling internal teams.Evidence of successfully driving business growth.Excellent communication skills both verbal and written.What’s In It For YouJoin our close-knit community of talented individuals who share a passion for making a positive impact.
