A Vacancy at University College London Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.We are delighted to offer this exciting opportunity for a Consultant Paediatric and Adolescent Oncologist to join the paediatric oncology team within the Children and Young People’s Cancer Service. This is one of four substantive Consultant Paediatric and Adolescent Oncologist posts within our service, brought about by a radical workforce redesign that aims to improve attractiveness and sustainability of working practices.We are looking for an enthusiastic and skilled colleague to join our team delivering expert care to children and young people with cancer. Specifically, we require a demonstrable interest in late effects. The role will also include supporting clinical oncologists to deliver proton‑beam radiotherapy to external patients – in a complementary area of specialism such as brain tumours, rare tumours or sarcoma. Attending and on‑call cover of paediatric oncology and teenage in‑patients is a core part of the post.ResponsibilitiesThe job plan will contain 7 programmed activities per week to be carried out on UCLH sites:Emergency duties (including emergency work carried out during or arising from on‑call)On‑Call: Contribute to the CYPCS acute on‑call rota. 1:7 consultant on call for paediatric oncology and 1:7 weekends with ward rounds on site each day; subsequently on call from home with return if necessary.Attending: Responsible for about 10 attending weeks per year (1 in 8) with clinical responsibility for acute oncology care in inpatient, ambulatory care, Grafton Way building radiotherapy suites and outpatient environments. Expect conduct of a minimum of 2 formal ward rounds per week.Multi‑disciplinary meetings or other meetings which relate directly to patient care, including the late effects MDT. Additional requirements to attend psychosocial MDTs in paediatrics and separately in TYA, particularly when attending to advocate for own patients.Outpatient clinics: Conduct 2–3 clinics per week, one of which will be late effects.Collaborative working with Clinical Oncology team to provide paediatric oncology expertise for external patients referred for proton‑beam and photon radiotherapy.Administration directly related to the above (including but not limited to referrals & notes).Supporting ActivitiesSubspecialty Service DevelopmentUndergraduate teaching and examiningPostgraduate teachingEducational supervisor to trainees (pending accreditation as an Educational Supervisor)Research, governance and quality improvement activitiesRepresenting the division on committeesPersonal CPDThere will be options for additional PAs through Trust leadership and management roles or by participating in private practice.UCLH is one of the largest late effects services for adult survivors of childhood and adolescent/young adult cancer in the UK and likely in Europe. The service offers risk stratified follow‑up ranging from monthly multi-disciplinary clinics to patient initiated follow‑up and echo technician‑led care. We have weekly nurse‑led transition clinics and specialist clinics for retinoblastoma. We have a monthly MDT to discuss transition and complex patients at UCLH as well as a GOSH transition MDT monthly. The successful candidate would be given the opportunity to take the lead on a chosen area of interest in late effects.The unique cohort of referred patients within the UCLH Children and Young People’s Cancer Service (CYPCS) provides an opportunity to be exposed to a complex cohort of rare cancers and the successful candidate is also given the opportunity to develop expertise in other tumour types.This advert closes on Tuesday 23 Dec 2025. #J-18808-Ljbffr
