Programme Facilitator – Probation Service Are you passionate about rehabilitation? If you can help people make meaningful and sustained changes in their lives, consider a career as a Programme Facilitator in the Probation Service. The role aims to reduce re‑offending, protect the public and support individuals in building constructive lives through evidence‑based programmes and structured interventions. You will work across a large regional area, travelling as required, and will not have line management responsibilities. Key Responsibilities Plan and deliver interventions in groups or on an individual basis to people on probation. Develop and maintain a therapeutic, safe working environment in line with operational manuals, accommodating different learning styles and abilities. Adhere to statutory safeguarding responsibilities (Children and Adult) and multi‑agency public protection policies to manage risks. Manage group dynamics and complex needs, ensuring effective targeting and achievement of learning outcomes. Monitor suitability, risk, safety and wellbeing throughout the intervention and make evidence‑based recommendations. Record all relevant data accurately and in a timely fashion to meet quality assurance requirements. Provide timely communication and analysis of individuals’ progress to Probation Practitioners and other stakeholders (Courts, CJ agencies, etc.). Deliver workshops and briefings to Probation staff and external stakeholders on intervention content and purpose. Model pro‑social behaviour and challenge anti‑social attitudes. Participate in video monitoring feedback sessions to review practice, meet audit standards and undertake professional development. Adhere to all policies regarding sensitive/confidential information and demonstrate commitment to equality and inclusion. Required Competencies and Experience Evidence of high‑level literacy skills for reading, interpreting policies, and writing reports and correspondence. Proficient spoken English (Welsh where specified in Wales). Experience of dealing with challenging behaviour from individuals with diverse social/personal difficulties. Experience of working collaboratively and maintaining effective team relationships. Awareness and some understanding of the criminal justice system, safeguarding principles and sentences for people on probation. Experience of assessing and analysing information from multiple sources to support decision‑making. Commitment to promoting equality and valuing diversity. Experience of using IT software applications such as Microsoft Office. Implementation of new learning to improve performance. Planning and prioritising tasks effectively in response to changing demands. Professional Development Complete programme‑specific training for each intervention (1 week per programme). Pass an Assessment Centre prior to training. Attain accreditation as an Accredited Programme Facilitator.
