Position Overview As the Workshop Engineer, you’re a key member of the Milton Keynes team. Reporting to the Engineering Supervisor, you will support the plant’s production goals and overall business plans by performing maintenance tasks and providing services to ensure smooth operation. Your Key Responsibilities Include Maintaining plant services in a safe working condition (e.g., compressors, boilers, water towers). Re‑refurbishment, preparation and repair of plant spares & equipment (e.g., coater rollers, pumps, gearboxes, conveyors, pinch chains, shafts, tooling). Assisting with plant breakdowns (e.g., pin chains, oven shafts, strappers) and line conversions (e.g., palletiser conversion and size conversions). Safely operating tool room/workshop machinery (e.g., lathes, grinders, manual millers). Assisting with the storing, inventory and issuing of tooling used in the manufacturing process. Engineering project work within the plant. Ensuring housekeeping in the toolroom is acceptable and that equipment and machinery are safe and operable. Commit to working maintenance days. Experience and Skills Required Minimum 2 years of job‑related experience in a high‑speed, high‑volume, continuous manufacturing environment. Apprenticeship in a Manufacturing/Mechanical Engineering discipline (time‑served engineer). Experience with preventative and planned maintenance and the maintenance of workshop/production equipment. Ability to assist with breakdowns and line conversions. Experience working with the following: compressors, boilers, water tanks, rollers, pumps, gearboxes, conveyors, pinch chains, shafts, grinders, lathes, manual millers. Strong toolmaking skills. Sound communication skills with clear explanations; fluent in written and spoken English. Demonstrated ability to work precisely with strong attention to detail.
