Graduate Programme 2026 – Project Manager (SW Horizons) Scottish Water invites applications for the Graduate Programme – Project Manager. The programme supports the delivery of water and wastewater infrastructure that enables economic growth and sustainability across Scotland. What You’ll Do Embed in Scottish Water Horizons and support the delivery of water and wastewater infrastructure to new housing developments, hydrogen production and data centres. Contribute from day one to projects that support the Scottish Government’s Hydrogen Action Plan, investigating sustainable solutions for water use to reduce greenhouse gas emissions. Gain hands‑on experience in project delivery, stakeholder engagement and milestone tracking. Work with delivery partners, monitor progress and report to senior managers while maintaining and improving relationships with internal and external stakeholders. Rotate through a variety of placements over the three‑year programme to grow knowledge, confidence and technical skills. Move into a permanent Project Manager role at the end of the programme, continuing to make a real impact on Scotland’s infrastructure and sustainability. How the Graduate Programme Works You’ll be employed on a permanent contract from Day One, with a starting salary of £33,000. As you progress through the programme and reach key milestones, you’ll receive salary increases that recognise your growth and commitment to ongoing learning. Upon completing the programme, you’ll move into a permanent Project Manager role, starting from £44,030. Structured training, mentoring and real‑world responsibility will equip you with the skills you need now and in the future. What You’ll Need Graduated within the last three years (or on track to graduate this summer) with a degree in Engineering, Project Management, Environmental Science or a related field. A minimum 2:2 classification is required. Passion for infrastructure, sustainability and making a positive impact every day. Understanding of project delivery and stakeholder engagement. Ability to work well with others, take initiative and bring energy and enthusiasm to every challenge. A valid UK driving licence and regular access to a vehicle may be required, as some placements involve travel to sites across Central Scotland. Benefits & Working Conditions 38 days of holiday each year (including public holidays) with the option to purchase additional days. Flexible working and a ‘Balanced Hybrid’ approach – spend half your time in a Scottish Water location. Parental leave, adoption, maternity and family‑friendly policies. Paid time off to volunteer. Competitive pension, life assurance and an annual company bonus. Access to SW Splash – rewards that save you money on holidays, bills and shopping. Application Process Closing date for applications: 11:59 pm on Sunday 14 December. Assessment activity starts Friday 19 December with online testing. Final face‑to‑face interviews: end of January to 13 February. If selected, pre‑employment screening (criminal record check) will be conducted in the spring.
