Consultant in Paediatric Dentistry The Royal London Hospital 10 PA Post We are seeking applications from enthusiastic individuals to our Paediatric Dentistry team as a 10 programmed activity (PA) substantive full‑time Consultant. The Paediatric Dentistry team forms part of the Dental Networked Services at Barts Health. Main duties of the job The role is very busy and will include outpatient management, local and general anaesthetic treatment lists, management of theatre cases (including relevant ward, discharge and post‑operative management), supporting service colleagues with management of 18‑week RTT, managing clinical governance processes as required within the Paediatric Dentistry department, delivery of service improvements and planning with operational and nursing colleagues and working closely with senior colleagues and clinicians to deliver exemplary care for our patients. The role will be based across the Royal London Dental Hospital. Person Specification Qualifications Essential Full registration with the United Kingdom General Dental Council (GDC). CCT (or entered on GDC Specialist registration for Paediatric Dentistry) achieved within 6 months of completion. Intercollegiate Specialty Fellowship Exit Examination in Paediatric Dentistry or equivalent. Up to date logbook. Desirable Fellowship in Dental Surgery or Membership of the Faculty of Dental Surgery (of one of the Royals Colleges of Surgeons of the UK or Ireland) or equivalent. Experience Essential Completion of a 3‑year CCST training in Paediatric Dentistry (or equivalent) plus 2‑year post CCST Fixed Term Training or equivalent or within 6 months of completion. Experience working in and leading an MDT clinic. Desirable Experience of paediatric dental trauma, hypodontia and children with cleft palate. Teaching Essential Experience of post‑graduate and undergraduate teaching and training at an appropriate level. Knowledge, Audit and Research Essential Effective participation in audit. Ability to appraise scientifically. Management of clinical service. Desirable Peer reviewed clinical research. Publications. Understanding of the NHS including financial and operational pressures. Understanding of national waiting time targets (Referral to Treatment and Urgent Suspected Cancer). Organisational skills, good time management, forward planning and attention to detail. Skills Essential Change Management and Quality or Service Improvement. Multi‑disciplinary team working. Interest in research, with evidence of peer reviewed publications. Teaching and Leadership. Desirable People Management. Other Essential Computer proficiency, including all Microsoft Office packages. Evidence of team working across multiple disciplines. Communications Skills.
