Job title: Pipefitter Welder Location: Gateshead Hourly rate: £38,670.94 per annum Shifts: 39 hours per week - Monday to Thursday, 07:00-16:00 & Friday, 07:00-12:00 Benefits Service Bonus: 2% of annual salary each December (rising to 4% after 10 years and 5% after 20 years) Pension: Matched contribution of 4-6% via salary sacrifice Bonus Plan: Up to 5% of salary depending on company performance Holidays: 5 weeks plus bank holidays, with the option to purchase an additional week Healthcare: Access to onsite gym and Corporate Health Cash Plan Flexible Benefits: Cycle to Work scheme, discount vouchers, and electric vehicle scheme via Tusker As a Pipefitter Welder, you'll play a key role in maintaining and installing industrial pipe systems across a large production facility. The role involves both pipefitting and welding duties, working with a range of materials and technical drawings to ensure reliable plant operation. Key Responsibilities Performing pipefitting, fabrication, and installation of industrial pipe systems. Welding using TIG and MIG methods on carbon steel, stainless steel, and galvanised pipework. Reading and interpreting engineering and isometric drawings to fabricate, cut, and fit accurately. Carrying out planned and reactive maintenance on mechanical and pipework systems. Isolating, dismantling, and removing redundant or damaged pipework safely. Supporting maintenance technicians and apprentices within the team. Ensuring all work complies with health, safety, and engineering standards. Working collaboratively with engineering and production teams to reduce downtime. This Pipefitter Welder position will suit someone with strong mechanical and pipefitting experience who enjoys hands‑on work in a fast‑paced, heavy industry environment. Skills & Experience Proven experience in pipefitting and mechanical maintenance within industrial or heavy manufacturing environments. Strong TIG and MIG welding skills across multiple materials. The ability to read and interpret engineering and isometric drawings. Sound understanding of safe isolation, maintenance procedures, and fabrication standards. Excellent attention to detail, teamwork, and communication skills. A recognised trade qualification or time‑served apprenticeship in pipefitting or mechanical maintenance. Why Should You Apply?
