You can experience a world of opportunity and the chance to shape a career as unique as you.A Little More About Your Role…As an Assistant Engineer / Engineer, you will be pivotal in delivering civil and bridge engineering projects and will use your knowledge and skills to deliver the right quality to time and budget. You will use those attributes to supervise and support junior team members.In this role your responsibilities will include:Bridge designBridge strengthening and repair, inspections and assessmentsGeneral civil and structural engineering support to other teamsFeasibility studies and options appraisalsPreparation of specifications, reports and health and safety risk assessmentsPreparation of fee estimatesSupervision of junior members of the teamYour team…Our Civil and Bridge Engineering team in the South West & Wales is made up of more than 120 engineers, technicians and project management professionals with a breadth of backgrounds and experience. We are based in WSP’s vibrant city centre offices, alongside other teams from our diverse business, with easy access to public transport and city centre amenities.We work across a huge variety of projects in the rail and highways sectors for a wide client base that includes HS2, Network Rail, National Highways, Local Authorities, D&B Contractors and private sector clients.What We Will Be Looking For You To Demonstrate…MEng or MSc in Civil or Structural EngineeringGraduate membership with the Institution of Civil Engineers or Institution of Structural Engineers, signed off against most attributes and are approaching chartershipExperience of bridge design, maintenance or assessmentExperience of Eurocodes or sector-specific codes and standards (e.g. Network Rail standards, DMRB)Interest in finite element analysis software and parametric design techniquesCommercial awareness and appreciation of managing costsGood report-writing skillsGood communication, client handling and interpersonal skills plus a willingness to adapt to new challenges and to actively participate in the development of othersDon’t quite meet all the criteria?
