Join us and experience our unique culture while you develop and expand your career.POSITION:The District Manager is a field-based role responsible for building and leading a high performing sales team of Clinical Specialists to build upon the launch of Ionis’s first wholly owned commercial product, specifically for an ultra-rare disease called Familial Chylomicronemia Syndrome (FCS) and any future follow-on indications. This role reports to the Regional Executive Director. The District Manager will be responsible for achieving/exceeding sales goals by executing the strategic vision set for the region aligned to brand strategy and effectively coaching, motivating, training, hiring and retaining talent with a high level of accountability for delivering results. This successful candidate will partner with their cross-functional teammates to understand and address the unique needs of their customers, ensuring the customer and patient experience is held to the highest standards in a compliant manner.RESPONSIBILITIES:The District Manager will possess a deep understanding of the healthcare market in their respective districts and the FCS and severe hypertriglyceridemia (sHTG) community, including the key customers and accounts treating cardiovascular and lipid related diseases. This will include understanding of the needs of each customer in their pursuit of improved patient outcomes by advocating for patients suffering from FCS. The District Manager will achieve this by building, maintaining and leveraging networks and relationships in the local healthcare system and leading the Sales Specialists to develop and execute effective plans to meet customer and Ionis goals. The District Manager will serve as a leader: build, lead, coach, train, motivate, and inspire a diverse team of people with deep functional and therapeutic area expertise engaging effectively and compliantly across the therapeutic field teams to bring a novel treatment to FCS patients.Strategy and InnovationExecutes the brand strategic plans by developing and executing customer focused strategic account plans to maximize business opportunities and customer satisfaction set by the Regional Executive DirectorLead a team of Sales Specialists to execute insight-driven focused tactics by understanding brand requirements & anticipating the current and future needs of our key customers including hospital and office-based Endocrinologists, Cardiologists and other sub-specialties that treat FCS/sHTG patients.Lead the development and execution of customer account planning for assigned target accounts to deliver maximum impact opportunities that positively impact patient outcomesProvides oversight on short-term and long-term plans for key accounts within the district and oversees relationships with customers, with accountability for relations at the C-suite level in important IDN systems and key accountsFosters innovation, best practice sharing, and breakthrough thinking throughout the region to exceed business goalsBuilds and fosters the values and cultural tone to maximize appropriate behaviors (especially regarding compliance) and best practice collaborationSets and maintains high level of product knowledge and promotional skills standards within the teamLeads their respective district consisting of a team of Sales Specialists to execute day-to-day field operations in line with commercialization/sales strategyEstablishes a results driven highly collaborative team culture by demonstrating personal accountability, teamwork, and collaborationAligns Sales Specialists with the company's mission and vision, policies and procedures, including the Ionis Code of Ethics and Business Conduct and leads by examplePerformance ManagementEvaluates and identifies improvement and development opportunities of Sales Specialists through performance management process to include clear, timely, and actional feedback on a regular basisAchieves business objectives and sales results by training, leading, and coaching Sales Specialists through observation of interactions with target customers and accountsExecute on-going training initiatives in conjunction with the Learning and Development teamConducts formal and informal performance reviews and coaching for district Sales Specialists and ensures individual development plans are executed while delivering fair and objective evaluationsAccountable for consistently meeting or exceeding quarterly district sales goal while always operating with integrity and in compliance with Ionis Code of Ethics and Business Conduct and compliance policiesEnsure team’s adherence to corporate and compliance policies, procedures, and guidelinesCross-Functional CollaborationFacilitates and encourages collaboration between teams to enhance organizational efficiency and maximize goal attainmentShares customer and operational insights with region leadership and leverages collective expertise to drive market success for products.Ensures all internal and external activities are in-line with all compliance policies/regulations and corporate values.QUALIFICATIONSBachelor’s Degree; BS/BA in Life Science, Biology, (or similar scientific) or business-related field.MBA or other related graduate degree preferred8+ years of cross-functional industry experience in commercial life sciences (pharma or biotechnology), specialty experience with biologics preferredProven track record for consistently meeting or exceeding financial and/or other quantitative and qualitative targetsDemonstrated leadership with the ability to develop, train, and provide feedback to a group of Clinical Specialists;
