You will be joining a MEICA team helping to prioritise, plan and deliver the maintenance or replacement of our crucial assets enabling flood protection to homes, businesses and the environment; a role that will become increasingly important as we face the challenge of global climate change. You will be working closely with external contractors to develop a world‑class asset management organisation. The role will be responsible for providing strong technical leadership to assure technical and design standards, and for monitoring quality, advising on requirements to meet specialist MEICA technical, safety, legal, environmental and operational standards across a diverse range of assets. The Team Joining our South East MEICA Team of mixed disciplines you will report to the MEICA Team Leader, acting as technical leader on MEICA activity and will participate in our response to flood incidents. You will provide technical mechanical support and direction to other team members and be responsible for liaising with a wide range of business partners and leading on actions on behalf of the MEICA Team Leader and Operations Managers. Experience & Skills Required Comprehensive knowledge of engineering related statutory legislation, British and European standards. Experience in taking a lead role in safety investigations, identifying and disseminating learning to bring about improvements in engineering and behavioural safety. Knowledge and experience of Root Cause Analysis, Reliability engineering, process improvement, technical leadership, writing and reviewing technical specifications. Educated to a minimum of HNC/D or degree level in an appropriate Mechanical discipline. An equivalent Level 4 qualification with I-Eng Professional registration may be considered. Full UK Driving Licence is essential to achieve the role. Competence 1 – Focuses on Customers and Partners Addresses the needs of internal and external customers and provides rapid and effective responses. The key aspect of this role will be the customer single point of contact in a given area to manage work priorities and project support needs. Competence 2 – MEICA Technical Advice and Design Provision of specialist technical advice and design to ensure effective, efficient and safe MEICA activity. The advisor acts as an internal consultant to EA partners, providing expert advice aligned to standards and regulations. Role Specific License Requirements Yes – Full UK driving licence. Note applicants will be rejected with no proof of Driving Licence. Role Specific Professional Membership Requirements Professional registration at I-Eng or C-Eng preferred but not essential.
