Bridging Underwriter

We're partnering with a mortgage underwriting company and seeking a new team member to join our specialist bridging underwriting function. The ideal candidate will be resilient, adaptable, and able to respond confidently to changing priorities in a fast‑paced workload. You will be a clear, confident communicator, comfortable liaising with brokers, solicitors and internal stakeholders to keep cases moving efficiently. Highly organised and detail-focused, you will manage multiple applications simultaneously while maintaining accuracy and compliance. You’ll also be robust and comfortable working to tight deadlines under pressure, ensuring our service standards and client expectations are consistently met. Location: Watford Working set up: 5 days per week onsite Key Responsibilities Oversee the full lending journey from initial application through to drawdown, ensuring all underwriting and due diligence procedures are followed. Manage a portfolio of bridging cases, prioritising workload effectively. Ensure all applications meet West One’s lending criteria. Coordinate the lending process by working closely with internal teams and external stakeholders. Instruct solicitors once an offer has been issued and supply all necessary documentation. Act with integrity, follow TCF principles, and uphold responsible lending standards. Apply strong underwriting knowledge and expertise in all cases. Support and assist the wider team as needed. Successfully complete internal competency assessments following induction. Strong attention to detail. Ability to collaborate effectively within a team. Clear and confident written and verbal communication skills. Ability to work to strict deadlines. Excellent organisational and prioritisation abilities. Proven underwriting experience within bridging and/or development finance. Solid understanding of FCA regulations. CeMAP qualification (preferred but not essential). Proficient user of Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook.
