Experienced Youth Worker

Charmouth Youth Club would love to hear from anyone with experience in the field of youth work interested in leading our youth club sessions. The club is open on Friday evenings with working hours including planning, set up and clear down to be discussed and agreed, but likely to be in the region of 5 hours per week. We are open to considering job share such as alternate weeks or other arrangements that might suit, to attract great people. We are also happy to talk about whether the role is employed or on a self‑employed basis. We have a superb purpose‑built building which includes a sports hall, TV / games room and a room with pool table, table football and tables and chairs to sit and chat, undertake activities or enjoy food / drinks from our tuck shop. Our lead youth worker will have the opportunity to develop activities as he / she / they feel would benefit or meet the needs of our young people. You will be supported by volunteers most of whom have little specific experience of youth work but bring lots of life experience and relevant skills from other careers. The Person You will be enthusiastic and passionate about providing services that meet the needs of young people and helping them reach their potential. You will be confident to take the lead in developing and shaping our youth offering and leading volunteers who are supporting the sessions. You will probably have at least two year’s experience in the field of youth work and will be aware of the challenges that young people face. You will be committed to inclusivity and safeguarding and be a strong communicator who is able to handle difficult situations and really listen to young people. Details Location: Charmouth Youth Club, Wesley Close, Charmouth DT6 6QT Hours of work: Friday evenings. Possibility of additional hours / evenings as the club develops and depending on demand. Qualifications: Qualified to level 2 Youth Work. Qualified to level 3 Safeguarding (Children). (We may consider applications from people currently working towards and well on their way to completing these qualifications). DBS check: Enhanced DBS check. Salary: £15‑£22 per hour based on experience against person specification and depending on whether undertaken on an employed or self‑employed basis. Negotiable to attract the right candidate.
