Start Date: Immediate
Salary: £100-£120 per day
Hours: Monday-Friday, 8:30am-3:30pm
Contract: Full-time, term-time only, temporary (with potential for long-term placement)
About the School

A welcoming and inclusive secondary SEN school in Waltham Forest is recruiting a compassionate and dedicated Teaching Assistant. You will join a specialist team supporting students aged 11-19 with complex learning needs (including ASD, ADHD, SLD, PMLD). This is a rewarding role for those passionate about making a real difference in children's lives.
Key Responsibilities
* Deliver 1:1 and small group support for students with complex learning, medical and communication needs
* Assist with personal care tasks (toileting, feeding, mobility support, hoisting)
* Facilitate learning through life-skills development, sensory activities, reading and writing support
* Supervise students in classrooms, playgrounds, and on school outings
* Build meaningful, trusting relationships, promoting independence and emotional wellbeing
* Work collaboratively with teachers, therapists, and medical staff to follow individual support plans
* Use communication tools (PECS, Makaton, AAC) where appropriate
* Maintain safe practice and confidentiality standards at all times

Candidate Profile
* Prior experience working with children or young adults with SEN, complex needs, or physical disabilities (school or care settings)
* Comfortable supporting personal and physical care requirements
* Patient, empathetic, and resilient, with strong behaviour management skills
* Strong communication abilities and team-oriented mindset
* Able to maintain high professional standards, confidentiality, and safeguarding
* Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply)
* Relevant training in manual handling, hoisting, or similar is highly desirable (or willingness to train)
