The Community Rehabilitation Service currently has an opportunity for an innovative and enthusiastic Band 7 Physiotherapist to join their team. The Community Rehabilitation Service is a multi-disciplinary therapy team providing assessment and rehabilitation in a community setting for those with a range of progressive or acquired neurological conditions. The work is community based and so you must be able to travel throughout the boroughs of Havering and Barking and Dagenham efficiently and effectively. The team has two sites which are currently Yew Tree Resource Centre, Romford, RM7 9AA and at Porters Avenue Health Centre, RM8 2EQ. The successful applicants will be required to work from the two sites to support junior staff and manage complex patients across the two boroughs. There is a well-established appraisal system and a commitment to support staff to develop leadership and clinical skills, through regular supervision, a structured neurology in‑service training programme and internal and external training opportunities. The service works closely with our colleagues across the Stroke and Neurology pathway including our Stroke Unit at Meadow Court, Goodmayes, and our team of specialist nurses in PD, MND and MS to aid us in the holistic management of our patients. Main duties of the job The successful candidate will be responsible for: Providing specialist physiotherapy assessment and treatment to patients with stroke and neurological conditions, taking into consideration the patient's physical/cognitive/perceptual skills to identify the patient's abilities and areas of difficulty. Taking a lead role in the leadership of junior staff and support assistants, through supervision, training and appraisal. Achieving and maintaining quality care through the delivery of evidence‑based practice and adherence with national guidance. Working as part of the multidisciplinary team across the Stroke and Neurology pathway liaising and supporting our therapy colleagues in the community as required. Falling within the remit of Stroke and Neurology services within NELFT's Acute and Rehabilitation Directorate, there are strong working relationships between our inpatient and community staff within this pathway. This enables us to provide joint in‑service training and journal club. High cost area supplement – Outer London This post also attracts payment for High Cost Area Supplement of 15% of the basic salary (minimum payment of £4,714 and a maximum payment of £5,941 – per annum, pro rata for part time). As such there may be opportunities for greater collaborative joint working in the future. You will be responsible for the assessment and treatment planning of those referred to the service and have the opportunity to develop and enhance your existing clinical skills. You will have a role in the leadership of junior staff and rehabilitation assistants, through supervision, training and appraisal whilst also being involved in the on‑going development of the service. Essential criteria for the post include: Degree or Diploma in Physiotherapy and current HCPC registration Clinical expertise and experience within the specialist of stroke and neurology. Previous experience in an inpatient stroke rehab setting is an asset. Person specification Experience – Essential To have a minimum of 3 years' experience of working as an Physiotherapist with neurological and stroke experience Experience working as a qualified Physiotherapist for 5 years Experience of MDT working Previous experience of working in the UK or a similar health economy Post registration courses completed in specific areas of neurology Experience of working as a band 6 Physiotherapist and working in a variety of specialities Experience – Desirable Membership of specialist interest group Knowledge – Essential Demonstration of knowledge of standards of practice, evidence and best practice guidelines in relation to Physiotherapy Able to demonstrate a good understanding of role of Physiotherapy in rehabilitation as well as the role of other professionals in MDT Work to HCPC Codes of Professional Conduct Skills – Essential Basic awareness of IT and IT skills Advanced clinical reasoning skills – ability to decide and establish appropriate action in allocation of workload and other clinical decisions Effective communication skills Organisational skills – to be innovative and work on own initiative and prioritise own workload Time management skills – ability to prioritise and implement management strategies for self and others Leadership skills Evidence of involvement with Audit / Service development Skills – Desirable Evidence of involvement with Audit and research Other – Essential To be able to travel efficiently throughout the area and across the boroughs Excellent time management skills including an ability to prioritise workload.
