Proposals & Costing Engineer Location: Hailsham Job Type: Permanent Salary: £50k Private Health Insurance Hours: 37.5 hour working week - Mon - Fri 8.30am - 5pm with a 60-minute break Holiday entitlement: Up to 25 days after year 1 service (Plus, Bank holidays) Global Travel and Full UK Driving Licence are essential Our client designs, manufactures and installs capital equipment from small R&D systems up to high throughput turnkey production plant. Our sister company MPP uses their gas atomisation systems in the production and development of high performance, high purity spherical metal powders. 80% of our products are exported to international customers. In this role, you will be responsible for generating comprehensive technical and commercial proposals for gas atomisers. The position requires a good level of understanding and experience in engineering principles and practices and mathematical competency. Our customer purchasing teams contain skilled engineers, so conversation at a high engineering level is essential. You will be supported by, and form part of, a team with good commercial awareness of the customers financial and commercial objectives to facilitate the rapid generation of high-quality proposals. Main responsibilities and duties Developing comprehensive cost estimates for projects, encompassing materials, labour, equipment, and potential subcontractors. Liaising with clients to understand their needs, addressing queries, and participating in meetings to build strong relationships. Creating compelling and well-structured technical and commercial proposals that clearly outline project scope, deliverables, and costings linked to the value proposition in response to client requests. Identifying potential risks, evaluating their commercial implications, and contributing to risk registers and mitigation strategies. Working closely with internal departments, operations, engineering and procurement, to gather information and ensure a cohesive approach to proposals. Validating profit margins and ensuring that project costs are balanced against time and quality requirements for optimal financial outcomes. Desired Qualifications and Experience Possession of an accredited university degree or equivalent qualification in an Engineering discipline Strong technical aptitude and problem-solving skills Excellent written communication skills Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) Experience with engineering design software (e.g. AutoCAD, SolidWorks) Knowledge of industry standards and regulations Previous experience in a technical sales or engineering role TPA Recruit is a specialist recruitment agency acting on behalf of our client to source and assess suitable candidates for this position.
