Responsibilities Accountable for delivery of a comprehensive, skilled and evidence‑based Diabetes and Endocrinology service to meet population needs, providing support to the senior team in leadership, management, delivery and development of services. Work independently while supporting the team in the management of a clinical caseload within the specialist field. Continuously assess health needs and develop and evaluate standards of care. Assess, plan, implement and evaluate evidence‑based nursing care for people with complex diabetes and Endocrinology needs. Provide expert clinical care for patients and support staff in developing competencies in diabetes and Endocrinology management. Teach and train clinical staff and patients both formally and informally. Collaborate with primary and community care and other specialists within the acute setting to implement integrated care pathways for people with diabetes. Support collection of data for clinical audit, service development and quality improvement work. Provide expert care and support for people with diabetes and endocrine conditions. Manage own patient caseload, giving advice, education and treatment in different settings. Teach and train patients, families and staff to improve knowledge and self‑care. Work closely with other health professionals to ensure care is joined up and effective. Help develop services, carry out audits and use research to improve standards of care. Support the team by showing leadership, sharing skills, and helping others to learn and grow.
