GP Maternity Leave Cover (GP Maternity Cover)We are seeking a motivated and compassionate Salaried GP to join Andover Medical Centre for a 6‑session maternity cover post starting February 2026. The role includes 2‑3 sessions per week dedicated to care home medicine, working closely with our Care Home Lead GP and multidisciplinary team. The remaining sessions will be standard GP clinical work. This position is ideal for a GP who enjoys continuity, complex care, and working within a supportive, collaborative team.Key ResponsibilitiesCare Home Sessions (2‑3 sessions per week): Provide comprehensive medical care to care home residents, conduct medication reviews, long‑term condition management, urgent assessments, and complete personalised care plans in line with UCP requirements. Liaise with the Care Home Lead GP, MDT partners, and care home staff.General Clinical Sessions (3‑4 sessions per week): Deliver face‑to‑face, telephone and online consultations; participate in the duty/triage rota; manage clinical administration including results, Docman, prescriptions, and tasks; contribute to safe, high‑quality care and patient satisfaction.ExperienceRequired: Working experience in UK general practice (training or post‑CCT); ability to manage acute presentations, chronic conditions, and undifferentiated illness; experience providing telephone and face‑to‑face consultations; working within a multidisciplinary team.Desirable: Experience delivering care in a care home, community, or frailty setting; duty doctor/on‑the‑day triage experience; contribution to QOF, IIF, audits or quality improvement; use of EMIS Web.Knowledge, Skills and Personal QualitiesEssential: Strong clinical decision‑making, prioritisation, independent work, excellent communication, confidence in managing risk, proficiency in IT systems, compassionate, team player, reliable, professional, adaptable and commitment to equitable, high‑quality care for diverse populations.Desirable: Understanding of personalised care planning and UCP; knowledge of frailty, polypharmacy, end‑of‑life care pathways; knowledge of care navigation and triage‑first access models; interest in developing a specialist clinical area or leadership; interest in teaching or training.QualificationsEssential: Fully qualified GP with MRCGP (or equivalent), GMC registration with licence to practise, inclusion on the NHS Performers List, evidence of continuing professional development.Desirable: Additional qualifications in frailty, geriatrics, or care of older adults; teaching, mentoring or clinical supervision accreditation; minor surgery, joint injections or other clinical skills where relevant.Contract DetailsFixed‑term, 12‑month contract; part‑time, flexible working; 6 sessions per week (23 sessions for care home cover, 34 sessions for general practice).OtherSalary: Depends on experience.
