The sites are the National Maritime Museum, Cutty Sark, the Royal Observatory, and the Queen’s House. Each of these sites has a unique identity and a common purpose to serve our communities, through sharing our collections and expertise. We form a campus within the Maritime Greenwich World Heritage site, with supporting operations at the Prince Philip Maritime Collections Centre in Kidbrooke, the Brass Foundry in Woolwich, and administrative offices in Greenwich. The Role As one of two Mechanical and Electrical Managers, the postholder is responsible for the stewardship of the nationally significant buildings and monuments within the Royal Museums Greenwich UNESCO World Heritage Site. Key elements of the role involve maintaining and enhancing the efficient and resilient running of all five sites across the Museum’s estate, the management of the mechanical and electrical term contract, ensuring full statutory and regulatory compliance, and acting as a technical authority in mechanical and electrical matters for the Museum’s operations, with a specialist focus on electrical systems, lifts, and fire safety. Further core responsibilities include managing the lifecycle of mechanical and electrical assets, such as providing technical input to, and delivery of, the capital investment programme, and working in partnership with the Estates team and other key stakeholders to provide a hands‑on service. The successful candidate will have experience of Estates and Facilities Management at a similar level, and either possess a City and Guilds 2365 Part C, City and Guilds 2382-18, ONC, HNC, HND, NVQ Level 3, or have significant experience in mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, building services, or equivalent. Management of Health and Safety and statutory compliance experience is required, as well as Project Management experience. The post holder will be a highly effective team worker and departmental ambassador with strong communication skills, along with the ability to prioritise their workload and adapt to changing circumstances under pressure. MS Office, CAFM and BMS packages skills are required, as is a demonstrable commitment to sustainability. This is a permanent full‑time in Band 3 - Senior Management. Core hours of work will be 36 per week, working Monday to Friday between the hours of 9 am-5 pm, although due to the nature of the work, some flexibility may be required.
