Hardware Engineering Manager – Electronics The role is based in Glasgow, United Kingdom with a hybrid working arrangement – 3 days in the office and 2 days remote. Key Responsibilities Define and manage the hardware development cycle, ensuring alignment with project and system requirements. Customise the hardware engineering environment, including processes, practices, and tools. Allocate tasks among team members, prioritise work, and manage day‑to‑day activity. Participate in the development of system architecture and allocation of functions to hardware components. Occasionally act as Work Package Manager, generating bids and estimates. Provide technical direction to the team, managing challenges and risks. Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams (systems, mechanical, software, safety) to develop optimal solutions. Develop junior team members, propose improvements, and review peer work. Essential Qualifications and Skills Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electronics Engineering, Electrical Engineering or related field. Proven experience in hardware development and engineering management. Strong understanding of the hardware life‑cycle from requirements to verification. Excellent leadership, team management, communication and collaboration skills. Experience with CAD/EDA tools such as Cadence or Mentor Graphics. Experience from bid/concept through to system integration and support. Ability to influence design approaches and technologies. Experience advising, supporting and auditing multiple projects and resources. Contribution to defining policies and guidelines for the business unit. Desirable Attributes Product knowledge of lasers and cameras. Passion for continuous learning and keeping up to date with electronics engineering advances. Knowledge of the Chorus 2.0 Design, Develop and Qualify lifecycle or equivalent ISO 9001 compliant system. Level 6 Qualification in a hardware engineering discipline (e.g., BEng(Hons) Electronics).
