We are growing our Medical Leadership Team, beyond what has ever been in place across our Primary Care Services, to ensure we continue to deliver great quality patient care. We are looking for a Salaried GP to undertake the Medical Leadership role at Gordon Street Medical Centre. The Medical Lead position is a permanent post in addition to the Salaried GP position including 4 hours per week of protected non patient activity time. Gordon Street Medical Centre is a friendly practice serving over 4000 registered patients. Our population is diverse and multi-cultural with a strong community spirit. A high percentage of our patients face deprivation and multi morbidity, this makes for a varied role as well as an opportunity to make a real different to individuals, families and the wider community. You will be joining a small, close-knit team of dedicated staff who work collaboratively to provide high-quality, patient-centred care to our growing list of patients. The working pattern for this role is, Monday 12:30 to 18:30, Tuesday 12:50 to 18:30 and Thursday 08:00 to 18:00. Main duties of the job You will provide routine and urgent clinical care for both acute and long term conditions working to local and national guidelines. The daily clinical workload is split equally amongst all clinicians with additional workload kept to a minimum by our excellent care navigation team. The acute home visit demand on the practice is generally low, however you may be required to carry out visits occasionally. Minimal private work required due to outsourcing most non NHS requests. You will be required to actively implement and support the use of digital technologies with patient triage systems and other communication technologies. You will attend and play an active role in regular practice & clinical meetings along with safeguarding and GSF MDT meetings. Opportunities to be included in PCN network meetings/projects. You will be expected to work with the team to continually strive to improve standards of care and, in particular, achieve QoF targets and KLOE objectives as outlined by CQC. You will be expected to participate in ongoing personal and professional development keeping up to date with appraisal and GMC requirements for licensing. You must be a strong approachable leader who has passion in driving forward practice improvements, provide clear clinical leadership and supporting peers & GP trainees. Job responsibilities Provision of care & service delivery Provide high quality and current evidence based medical care to the patients of the Medical Practice and, where necessary and relevant, patients from other gtd healthcare managed services. Provide all GP services required as part of the GMS Contract held between gtd healthcare and commissioners. Undertake all necessary and relevant paperwork associated with the provision of medical services. Operate as part of a wider networked clinical team with partner practices for peer development, peer support and provision of relevant services. Undertake surgeries during extended hours in accordance with the access needs of the practice population and the contractual obligation of the practice. Provide support to other clinical professionals within the practice, e.g. Advanced Nurse Practitioner, practice nurses. Clinical and service development Support the achievement of QOF targets, taking a lead on a specific clinical area where appropriate. Actively participate in the development of services in the practices that meet the needs of the practices patient population and maximise the opportunities of new enhanced services. Work as an integral member of the practice team, contributing to the efficient and effective running of the practice. Support, where necessary, the implementation of change within the practice. Undertake clinical audits as required. Participate in individual and practice reviews as a part of incident or complaints management process. Development and training Participate in an ongoing personal and professional development programme including annual appraisal and supervision. Ensure that mandatory training is completed within agreed timescales.Where appropriate, undertake the North West Deanery basic trainers course and work with the practice and management teams to either enable practice training status to be achieved or maintain training status. Support the development of gtd healthcare becoming a beacon training organisation. Corporate responsibilities As an employee of gtd healthcare comply with all corporate and clinical policies and protocols. Ensure that mandatory training in complete and updated within the appropriate timescales. Where appropriate, engage in the management and resolution of complaints and incidents and significant events. Other duties Any other duties, as agreed with the line manager to meet the needs of the organisation. This may include travel to other sites within the organisation. Person Specification Experience In practice as a General Practitioner/ locum practitioner. Commitment to and experience of working as part of a multi-disciplinary and skill mixed team environment. Experience of working to achieve standards within the Quality and Outcome Framework (QOF). Experience of supporting service change. Experience of team leadership. Qualifications A medical practitioner whose name is included in the General Practitioner Register under article 1 of the General and Specialist Medical Practice Order 2003. Not subject to suspension under section 41A of the Medical Act 1983 Qualified General Practitioner (completed certificate of Completion of Training CCT). Currently on a performers list and not suspended from that list or from the medical register. Accredited as a member of the Royal College Of General Practitioners (MRCGP) or have 5 yrs experience as a full time GP with a demonstrable commitment to quality practice. GP Trainer. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Strong interpersonal skills. Strong leadership skills. Understanding of the current issues and challenges facing primary care.
