They understand the specific needs of the puppies and what we as a company are trying to achieve with our puppy therapy sessions. They can multitask, engage in conversation, they’re willing to roll up their sleeves and get involved where needed.The RoleJob Title: Event Team MemberReports to: Events ManagerContract Type: Self-Employed Contractor (Flexible hours)Wage: £13.15 hourly rateLocation: North West England - Manchester, Liverpool and the wider region. You are required to find your own means of transport to the event location to arrive promptly at the time requested.Core Hours: General shift times are between 7.30am-6.00pm Monday to Friday. Shifts can vary from around 3 hours to up to 8 hours.Life at Paws in WorkPaws in Work are a specialist Puppy Therapy and Mental Health Training start-up that works with corporate clients to improve wellbeing within their workplace. We are the only licensed Puppy Therapy company in the UK and offer MHFA England accredited and bespoke mental health training courses and talks.Our aim is ‘To Create A Better Life For People & Pups’ and our work is based around our three pillars:Mental Health EducationRaising Awareness for Ethical Breeding in the UKThe Event Team Member RoleAs a Paws in Work Event Team Member, you will be responsible for the running of the event sessions. You will ensure that the puppies are safe and the set-up is refreshed at the beginning and end of each session. During the puppy therapy session itself, you will be communicating with attendees and ensuring they are accommodated, comfortable and happy, giving them their ‘best day at work, ever’Don’t worry if you haven’t worked with dogs before - perhaps you’ve worked as a runner on TV sets, or studied zoology at university, or worked demanding shifts on your feet all day at a pub Our ideal candidate doesn’t shy away from hard work, has a positive, hands-on, and enthusiastic personality and a passion for helping people and pups.Key ResponsibilitiesHosting puppy therapy sessions - continue to deliver key information during the entirety of the session.Ensure the welfare of the puppies remains a priority throughout the event day.Briefing guests on health and safety before they enter their session.Replenishment of set up before and after each session.At any time being prepared to clean, any bodily fluids or faeces produced by the puppies, in a discreet manner.Making sure all guests have the opportunity to interact with the puppies.Observing the puppies’ behaviour, and reporting any concerns of abnormal behaviour from the puppies to a senior member of staff.Setting up and packing down our equipment.The successful candidate will:Have the ability to multi-task under pressure.Be confident in handling live animals.Consistently present a professional, friendly, caring and can-do attitude.Possess a positive service-oriented attitude towards all guests and employees.Be able to communicate clearly in the English language.Listen attentively to teammates and guests.Have the ability to bend down and lift objects easily.It would be great if you have:A full clean UK driver's licenseA background in events/customer service / people-facing roles.An understanding of dogs and their needs.Related dog welfare qualifications.Training providedYou’ll have in-person training with our puppy therapy specialist team, in which you will be fully inducted and have a chance to shadow others. You’ll also complete an online pet first-aid training course and puppy socialisation training which Paws in Work will enroll you onto.
