OverviewThe KPMG Actuarial Consulting function serves clients from major UK offices and a network of 20 offices nationwide. As a Qualified Actuarial Consultant, you take a lead delivery role, managing small teams of advisors and auditors for a wide range of general insurance clients in Retail and Commercial sectors, including Lloyd's and the London Market. The role spans Solvency II support, financial transformation projects, and supporting the Deals team in large, fast-moving transactions. For audit work, you review clients' reserving and capital assessments and form independent assessments to support specialist audits. Our practitioners gain breadth of knowledge in reserving and exposure to senior leadership within the insurance industry.ResponsibilitiesLead delivery on engagements, managing small teams of advisors and auditors for general insurance clients.Contribute to projects across Solvency II (e.g., IMV and capital modelling), Financial Transformation, and large transactions with the Deals team.Support audit work by reviewing clients' reserving and capital assessments and providing independent assessments.Engage with senior leadership within client organisations and shape tailored KPMG solutions.Qualifications & SkillsNearly or newly qualified actuary with experience in a non-Life Actuarial Function or a Non-Life Consultancy with direct UK experience.Risk Pricing Model Development: hands-on experience building models using platforms such as Akur8, Quantee, Optalitix, HX Renew, Earnix, or Radar.Modern optimisation techniques applicable to pricing or underwriting contexts.Replatforming experience: migrating pricing models from legacy tools (e.g., Excel raters) to modern platforms.Python proficiency for pricing, data manipulation, or automation tasks.Data enrichment experience with third-party sources (LexisNexis, Dun & Bradstreet, FullCircl).Feature and data engineering to transform raw data into meaningful features for predictive models or pricing algorithms.Knowledge of regulatory regimes and reporting standards (Solvency II, GAAP, IFRS) for UK non-life insurers.Ability to manage concurrent engagements and contribute to shaping tailored solutions.Strong technical and communication skills (written and oral) to engage with clients and senior personnel from day one.Strong coaching skills to develop junior team members.Amazing ExtrasPrevious consultancy experience is preferred, but qualified actuaries from the General Insurance industry with the ability to support senior management, proposals, and sales materials will be considered.Location & AvailabilityCore hubs for this role are Edinburgh, London Canary Wharf, and Manchester.
