This role sits within the Environmental Planning team and focuses on Environmental Impact Assessments (EIA).Role descriptionAs part of a growing and agile business, our Environmental Planning team is looking for a Senior Environmental Consultant with a broad range of EIA experience. You will manage small to medium sized Environmental Impact Assessments projects and work closely with our clients. You’ll help improve quality of life through environmental management, addressing areas such as protected species, pollution, surface water and materials management, air quality or noise, in some of the world’s busiest and most beautiful locations.We work to protect our natural environment and water resources, while powering our world for future generations. The role involves addressing climate change, urbanization and biodiversity challenges, and delivering environmental solutions within multidisciplinary projects.ResponsibilitiesChampioning high standards of environmental performance within multidisciplinary engineering projects, influencing project development, and delivering optimal environmental outcomesCoordinating the delivery of environmental work being undertaken by multi-disciplinary teams across a range of projectsCompetently undertake your own work to an excellent standard, and review the work of othersProactively managing selected projects or components of projects, taking responsibility for resource allocation, managing subcontractors, quality assurance and client feedback and ensuring effective communication of any changes/modificationsContribute to tender proposals/bids - working as part of a project winning teamProviding environmental advice and support to clients, project managers and colleaguesEngaging with consultees and stakeholdersWorking closely with technical specialistsDeveloping outstanding reports with the ability to summarise and explain outcomes to non-technical audiencesManaging projects, overseeing performance on technical, quality, commercial, and health and safety aspectsQualifications & ExperienceA good working knowledge of EIA practices and procedures and a solid understanding of environmental and sustainability principlesExperience across a range of project types, ideally within energy, residential/mixed-use/regeneration sectors, and major infrastructure projects including rail/highwaysPractical working knowledge of the UK planning system and consenting processStrong report writing, verbal and presentation skills with proven experience in reviewing the work of others to ensure qualityExperience in multi-disciplinary coordination of projects, with good project management and technical skills, and in the creation and delivery of reports and presentationsExperience in consulting and negotiating with planning authorities, regulators, and stakeholdersDesirable: Experience in delivering SEA and/or Integrated Impact Assessment (IIA) projects; knowledge of sustainability, waste or carbon assessmentsDesirable: Associate Member of IEMAWhy Arcadis?We can only achieve our goals when everyone is empowered to be their best.
