The Opportunity An excellent opportunity has arisen for a strong and resilient male Teaching Assistant with experience supporting students with SEN and managing challenging behaviour. This is a full-time, long-term role starting immediately, with a quick turnaround to a permanent contract for the right candidate. You will be supporting pupils aged 11-16 in small classroom settings, helping to create a positive and engaging learning experience tailored to their individual needs. Male SEN Teacher Assistant Responsibilities Provide in-class and 1:1 support to students with MLD and associated behavioural or emotional needs. Assist the class teacher in delivering adapted learning activities and supporting behaviour management strategies. Build strong, trusting relationships with pupils to promote positive behaviour and engagement. Implement de-escalation techniques and reinforce positive behaviour strategies. Support pupils with social and emotional regulation throughout the school day. Work collaboratively with teachers, therapists, and other support staff to ensure consistency of care and progress. Male SEN Teacher Assistant Attributes Male Teaching Assistant with experience supporting children or young people with SEN (especially MLD or SEMH). Confident in managing challenging behaviour in a calm, patient, and professional manner. Resilient, proactive, and adaptable with a genuine passion for helping young people succeed. Experience working in smaller classroom environments or specialist provisions is highly desirable. Holds an Enhanced DBS (on the Update Service or willing to apply).
