We are seeking an enthusiastic Pastoral Support Worker to join our team.The successful candidate will play a vital role in working within a team of dedicated Pastoral Staff to collaboratively promote positive behaviour & Wellbeing amongst all pupils, helping pupils to overcome barriers to learning, to contribute to Pupil provision, to coach, lead, support and implement SEND interventions. To plan, deliver and evaluate the impact of interventions in support of our organisation’s missionWhy the role exists and overall responsibilityBarriers to learning exist inside and outside of the classroom with a host of complexities preventing pupil achievement. As a nurturing provision with a high level of SEN particularly SEMH and neurodivergence we regard the pupil holistically and aim to break down barriers to learning and a positive school experience. We do this by targeting pupil ‘need’ as described in EHCP’s and a host of pupil assessments.Pastoral support work enhances our school offer, enabling us to bridge gaps in academic accessibility and ensures that pupil SEN needs are met.The enhancement of our offer enables our pupils to reach for positive destinations, improves learning and development and encourages positive life and learning experiences that extend into adult life.MAIN ACTIVITIESTo be responsible for delivering inhouse and offsite learning and intervention including home visits, small group sessions, lesson support and 1-2-1 lesson delivery.To be responsible for creating resources and delivering interventions either 1-2-1 or small groups to support pupils SEN needs.To support and encourage re engagement of anxious non-attenders with emotionally based school avoidance (EBSA) and pupils that are at risk of becoming NEET (Not in Education, Employment or Training).To contribute to the update and review of Education and health care plans (EHCP)To be follow safeguarding processes and procedures.To be responsible for developing and creating resources and activities to support individualpupils.To create and deliver personalised learning to support the re inclusion of all pupils.To work collaboratively with Leads, pupils and families to ensure they are included and informed of pupil developments, and progress.Responsible for providing staff with up-to-date information regarding strategies to support pupils to maintain provision.Create and develop de-escalation techniques to support targets.Responsible for updating targets and intervention documents and updating the pastoral team.Responsible for updating provision maps using the schools MIS.Work alongside outside agencies regarding pupil progress, such as (but not limited to) CAMH’s, Educational psychologist, SENDACT etc.To prepare pupils emotionally, socially and academically for a successful transition at the end or the placement involvement.Participate and research in professional development opportunities.To work alongside the pastoral team providing and updating pupil development in preparation for reviews and meetings.Support the Outreach Lead and Nurture & Wellbeing Lead in completing targets for individual pupils.Knowledge, training and experience requiredESSENTIAL SKILLSEnglish and Maths at Level 2 / GCSE (Grade C/4 or above).Good Knowledge of a variety of approaches to encourage pupil engagement and learning with a focus on developing the social skills and emotional literacy of young people.Knowledge of behaviour management strategies including de-escalation techniques.Experience within an educational setting, preferably an Alternative Provision or Independent Inclusion School.Knowledge and experience of SEMH needs affecting children and young people.Full (Clean) Driving LicenseDESIRABLE SKILLSExperience using MIS & Safeguarding programmes such as provision mapping tools and CpomsKnowledge of Zones of Regulation and Trauma Informed Approaches.Experience of leading and delivering one to one sessions or small group sessions.KEY PERSONAL CHARACTERISTICSFlexible and reliableResilienceGood organisational skillsPunctual, reliable and consistent.Solution focused.Sense of humor.Positive, professional, enthusiastic and committed to supporting the progress and development of young people.Completed application forms should be emailed to us at Joanne.warwick@freshfutures.org.uk or be posted to Joanne Warwick, Brian Jackson College, Vision House, High Street, Heckmondwike, WF16 0AD and must arrive no later the closing date and time specified.If you are interested in this role, please complete the application form plus any additional role specific forms found at the top of this page, and return it to Joanne.warwick@freshfutures.org.uk before the closing date. #J-18808-Ljbffr
