Title: Lecturer in Computing - Birmingham Department: Academic/Bath Spa University partnership (BSU) Location: Birmingham (On-Site) Salary: £51,000 Type of Contract: Full-Time, Permanent (40 hours per week) Our Vision: Changing lives through education. The Role We are currently seeking Lecturers to teach across a range of undergraduate levels as part of our BSc (Hons) Computing programme. Due to our delivery model, we require flexibility to teach during weekdays, evenings and at weekends. This role is not eligible for visa sponsorship. Responsibilities Plan, deliver, and assess student work, ensuring all learning outcomes are met Develop, update, and improve course materials as appropriate Use a variety of learning and teaching methods/materials Actively engage in staff development activities, peer observations, meetings and other administrative duties Keep up to date with the latest developments in your field and student support practices Work towards a range of clearly defined objectives for student attendance, continuation, completion, satisfaction and student progression Qualifications Hold a Master’s degree in a relevant subject area (PhD desirable) Have previous UK HE lecturing experience in the wider subject area Demonstrate extensive knowledge in two or more of the following areas: Programming and software development, Web development, Database systems, Cloud computing, Networking, Cybersecurity, IoT and emerging technologies, Business IT systems, IT management, AI and Machine Learning, Operating Systems, UI/UX Experience supervising student work and providing support and feedback Ability to maintain accurate reporting and thorough student records Ability to work under pressure, plan and prioritise own workload to meet tight deadlines Excellent communication, interpersonal and team‑working skills Ability to work with diverse groups of people Desirable Postgraduate Certificate of Academic Practice or equivalent teaching qualification (or commitment to enrol on a teaching programme during the probationary period and complete within three years) or Fellowship of HEA (or international equivalent) Experience in design / development of academic or professional education programmes or equivalent What We Offer 25 days annual leave, plus 8 public holidays 1 day extra leave per year of service, up to a maximum of 5 days Workplace pension scheme Tuition reimbursement for career development courses Flexible Benefits: Cycle to Work, Workplace Nursery, Tech scheme and much more Perks@Work discounts platform, wellbeing centre and much more Reward and recognition programme £500 award employee referral scheme Discretionary annual performance bonus "The diversity and sense of community at GBS make it truly special.
