Join to apply for the Senior Catastrophe Modelling Analyst - Reinsurance role at MS Amlin.Location: London - HybridPosition type: Full time, permanentAbout the roleThe Exposure Management team measures, describes and reports on risks written by the company so that volatility and severity of probable risk loss can be understood in the context of capital requirement and return in capital targets. Within Exposure Management, the Reinsurance Catastrophe Modelling team leverages analytics to forecast and manage the outcome of catastrophe losses, adding value to stakeholder decision making and regulatory oversight.ResponsibilitiesLead, coordinate, and provide analytic support to key activities across catastrophe classes.Work collaboratively with clients of Exposure Management to provide clarity, transparency and understanding.Support analysts’ skills development through coaching and engagement.Address and manage complex cases and queries from underwriters, maintaining strong relationships with the Underwriting, Claims, Pricing and Underwriting Performance teams.Manage client and broker relationships and handle enquiries efficiently.Proactively build an internal and external network.Lead on at least one of the following workstreams: Terrorism, Regulatory returns, Portfolio aggregation, Business planning, Event response, MSI, Development.Conduct exposure capture and modelling of pricing and portfolio risks, providing peer review for risks captured and modelled by Genpact and Modelling Analysts.Oversee and guide analysis conducted by Genpact and Modelling Analysts.Lead delivery of proactive portfolio optimisation and other value‑add modelling tasks.Design and implement risk management strategies aligned with business goals.Support business planning activities.Govern modelling, contribute to key committees and maintain MS Amlin’s exposure Management Framework.Review and validate policy audits and reports on data quality.Oversee and coordinate internal and external reporting activities.Conduct role in accordance with the Company’s Business Ethics policy.Assist with ensuring portfolio and risks are compliant with relevant risk, regulatory and legal requirements.Support delivery of the MS Amlin Risk Function plan and wider Risk Mandate.Assist development of Top Risk Assessment approach.QualificationsExcellent financial and commercial acumen.Significant Exposure Management modelling experience.Technical knowledge of (re)insurance, outward reinsurance, general underwriting process and performance.Robust understanding of the Lloyd’s Syndicate market and its operating principles.Superior software knowledge of RMS RiskLink / RMS Risk Manager / AIR Touchstone / Touchstone Re / DFA tools.Excellent Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint and PowerBI skills.Deep knowledge of data management and structures.Strong understanding of coding logic and experience in SQL.Skills in R and/or Python useful.Ability to design, operate, interpret and communicate quantitative reporting.Experience in utilising data manipulation and visualisation tools.Experience using ArcGIS and underwriting tools desirable.Undergraduate degree in Geography, Mathematics, STEM subjects desirable.CII Qualification desirable.ICSM or vendor qualification beneficial.What you can expect from usCompetitive base salary and performance‑related discretionary bonus.
