Theatre Domestic Assistant

Overview We are looking to appoint a highly enthusiastic Domestic Assistant to join our team at Hexham General Hospital, working in our new Operating Department. The working hours are between 7am and 8pm, with various shift patterns. Responsibilities Ensure operating theatres and surrounding areas are clean using specialised equipment (scrubber, pick up, buffer) and renew disposables where necessary. Clean operating theatres and surrounding departments, act as a porter to take the patient to and from operating theatres as necessary. Clean floor areas as scheduled via vacuuming, mopping, buffing and spray cleaning. Undertake "deep cleans" in areas where infection is present. Clean operating theatres including canopies, remove rubbish including domestic and clinical waste, dispose to designated disposal point. Clean sanitary areas, toilets, sinks, shower cubicles, staff changing areas. Perform damp dusting of all surfaces, ledges, shelves, curtain rails. Clean internal glass; take down and put up curtains. Schedule cleaning of chairs; wash walls (shoulder height) fittings and windows where required. Use all equipment and materials safely and correctly. Report all faults, queries or problems to the Department Manager. Maintain high standards of cleanliness in all work areas. Carry out urgent spot cleaning and spillage. Participate in training programmes relevant to efficiency, fire drills, hygiene, and health and safety at work regulations. Any other duties as deemed appropriate. Qualifications / Requirements Essential: effective communication skills written and verbal. Essential: previous domestic experience. Desirable: experience within the healthcare setting.
