Role: Year 6 Teaching Assistant
Location: Lincoln, Lincolnshire
Start date: January 2026
Contract: January 2026 – May 2026 (Full-time)
Salary: £90-£100 per day (depending on experience, role and/or qualifications)
About the role
Heart of Supply is seeking a dedicated and adaptable Year 6 Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming primary school from January to May 2026, working full-time to support pupils in the run-up to their SATs.
In this role, you will work closely with the Year 6 class teachers, providing targeted support to pupils to help them achieve their best during this crucial period. This will include assisting with small-group interventions, one-to-one support, and helping pupils engage confidently with their learning across core subjects. You will play a key role in promoting positive behaviour, encouraging independence, and maintaining a calm, structured and supportive environment.
Experience working as a Teaching Assistant in a primary setting is essential, ideally with some experience supporting upper Key Stage 2 or preparing pupils for SATs. Strong behaviour management skills, patience, and the ability to build positive, trusting relationships with pupils and staff are all highly desirable.
About the school
This is a large warm, inclusive primary school that is ambitious for every child and works hard to bring out the very best in each member of its school community. Every pupil is cared for, feels safe, and is nurtured to grow in confidence and express themselves fully. The school has a strong commitment to working closely with families and the wider community to provide the best possible education. The curriculum is exciting, enriching and designed to ignite a genuine passion for learning with pupils encouraged to explore their interests both within the classroom and beyond.
What you will need:
* Previous experience supporting children in a primary classroom, ideally within Upper Key Stage 2
* A calm, compassionate approach and the ability to build positive, trusting relationships with pupils
* Confidence supporting learning and development under the direction of the class teacher, particularly in core subjects
* Strong behaviour management skills and the ability to use positive reinforcement strategies to encourage engagement and good choices
* Flexibility to adapt to the needs of different pupils and the pace of Year 6 routines, especially during the SATs preparation period
* Excellent communication skills and a positive, team-focused attitude
* A relevant qualification (such as a Level 2 or Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification) is desirable but not essential for experienced candidates
What we offer you:
* Competitive weekly PAYE pay
* Roles tailored to your lifestyle - day-to-day or longer term
* Access to exclusive opportunities in great local schools
* A friendly, experienced consultant who listens
* Free CPD and ongoing professional development
* A simple ‘Refer a Friend’ scheme
* A warm, supportive agency that genuinely cares about you and your journey
We’re fully committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, young people, and vulnerable adults. All applicants will undergo thorough vetting, including enhanced DBS (with children’s barred list check and Update Service registration), references, and online checks as part of our compliance process.
