Job Overview Support and assist the well‑being of individuals and groups to assure their protection, security and development. The role involves safeguarding, protection and care across community, residential, day or field settings. It requires ongoing risk/needs assessment, specification of non‑council provision, individual or small group emphasis, may involve personal care activities and likely immediate response to clients. Service and Function Context The Family & Children’s Support and Safeguarding Service delivers an effective family‑based and relationship‑based approach to enable children and families to achieve positive outcomes, prevent family breakdown, and meet statutory responsibilities. Staff includes social workers, keyworkers, and local partnership advisors working on complex cases. Key Responsibilities Case Management Hold case responsibility for allocated work assigned by the team manager or delegated authority. Ensure timely completion of enquiries and assessments regarding the needs and risks of vulnerable children and young people. Assessment and Risk Management Undertake S47 enquiries, single assessments, and engage service users in appropriate settings. Take appropriate action to assess and minimise identified risks in line with statutory frameworks. Planning and Intervention Develop and implement plans with children, young people and their families/carers. Conduct regular reviews of plans, record outcomes, and revise plans to maintain an outcome‑focused approach. Collaboration and Meetings Convene and participate in meetings such as core groups. Work collaboratively with Keyworkers, Senior Keyworkers and Local Partnership Advisors to achieve shared family goals. Reporting and Legal Duties Prepare reports for child protection conferences, legal planning meetings, looked‑after children reviews, and court hearings.
