Lead Generative AI Engineer Type: Full Time or Part Time; Service Line: Technology & Data; Contract Type: Permanent. Join KPMG's Data & AI team at a moment when artificial intelligence is reshaping industries and communities through ethical, scalable, and impactful solutions. KPMG UK is seeking a Lead GenAI Engineer to specialise in generative AI model development, AI transformation, and large‑scale enterprise AI implementations. In this role you will lead impactful AI initiatives, drive innovation, and address complex business challenges. As a thought leader, you’ll guide cross‑functional teams, define AI strategies, and deliver cutting‑edge solutions that drive tangible outcomes for both KPMG and its clients. The role also offers significant influence over the way AI shapes KPMG's business practices. Responsibilities Lead large‑scale generative AI transformation projects across the organisation and clients, ensuring seamless adoption of AI solutions that address critical business challenges. Provide AI thought leadership to business stakeholders, advising on strategy, roadmap, and integration of generative AI technologies into business processes to drive value. Lead a team of AI engineers and data scientists, mentoring junior members and ensuring adherence to best practices in AI development and deployment. Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to design and architect robust, scalable AI systems that integrate generative AI models into complex enterprise environments. Create proofs of concept, deliver minimal viable products, or fully‑fledged projects, and deploy models into production. Work closely with business teams and clients to demonstrate the potential of AI and assess its feasibility for solving business challenges. Lead feasibility studies, develop data strategies, support RFP responses, and demo to prospective clients. Ensure compliance with KPMG's data governance policies and industry regulations regarding AI models and data processing. Implement best practices in data privacy, security, and ethical AI, particularly when handling sensitive data. Contribute to KPMG’s body of knowledge in the deployment of fair and transparent AI models. Stay up to date with the latest advancements in AI, ML, and LLMs, applying new methodologies to improve model performance. Conduct research into new AI use cases and innovate to enhance KPMG’s offerings. Qualifications A degree in a related field such as Computer Science, Statistics, or equivalent is preferred but not mandatory; significant professional experience in the field may also be considered. Advanced certifications in AI/ML, cloud computing, or data engineering are a bonus. Strong background in AI/ML, with expertise in developing and deploying generative AI solutions at scale. Proven experience with foundational LLMs (GPT, BERT) and successfully driving AI transformation. Expertise in AI frameworks (TensorFlow, PyTorch, etc.) and strong background in cloud services and scalable AI solutions in production environments. Proficiency in designing, coding, and optimizing generative AI models, including prompt engineering for LLMs. Deep understanding of AI/ML algorithms, model optimisation, and deployment of scalable solutions in cloud environments. Experience with version control (Git), Linux, Docker, and data engineering tools such as Hadoop, Spark, and Elasticsearch. Business development experience—either in a commercial environment or in “selling ideas”—is a plus. Opportunities Work on the most exciting projects: help our clients solve their biggest problems. KPMG Data & Technology regularly features as a leader or winner in the most prestigious analyst league tables. You’ll collaborate on innovative projects delivered jointly with clients and benefit from world‑leading training and development programmes. A culture of exploration and opportunities across sectors, functions, and expertise will allow you to shape your career with KPMG. #J-18808-Ljbffr
