The Role Claims Adjuster, Liability Overview The Claims Adjuster, Liability is directly responsible for all aspects of file handling on both in‑house and third‑party administered liability claims, with growth opportunity in depth of technical handling and multi‑faceted professional development. The role also directs the adjusting and litigation process, strategically partners with counsel, experts and vendors, and drives optimal claim resolutions. Responsibilities Thorough investigation and assessment of claims for coverage, damages and pursuit of recoveries and subrogation/contribution opportunities. Understanding of coverage issues, policy forms, contracts, regulatory requirements and changing legal landscape for liability/casualty claims. Proactive and prompt management of claims, considering all aspects with a strategic vision for optimal claim outcome. Continual evaluation of the claim to set appropriate, timely reserves over the life of the claim to reflect changes in exposure. Demonstrate strong technical claims proficiency through consistent execution of best claim practices. Strategically coordinate and manage outside counsel and vendors to obtain optimal claim outcome. Present high‑exposure claims to Claims Leadership and key stakeholders. Collaborate with internal and external business partners for client meetings, product development and improvement, and account audits. Maintain an innovative mindset and look for ways to improve claim efficiencies and outcomes. Financial reserve and settlement authority will be dependent on the skills and experience of the successful candidate. Proactively manage claims with a strategic, total cost of claim mindset. Use technical analytical and critical‑thinking ability to properly determine coverage and liability. Adopt and actively implement the core principles of Continuous Conversations (Commitments, Feedback and Development) as part of daily activities and with other colleagues. Take ownership of personal and professional development as part of Continuous Conversations. Establish and achieve development aspirations and needs through commitments, giving and receiving frequent, constructive feedback. Abide by the policies and procedures of MRSNA‑BA. Key Skills And Experience Proven experience in data governance, data management, or a related field within the insurance industry. Strong understanding of delegated authority business and the role of TPAs/coverholders in the insurance value chain. Experience in managing data quality and implementing data governance frameworks. Knowledge of regulatory requirements related to data governance in the insurance sector. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage and influence stakeholders at all levels. Strong written communication skills essential. Strong organisational and presentational skills. Strong problem‑solving skills and the ability to think strategically. High level of attention to detail and a commitment to delivering high‑quality outcomes. Benefits Experience with liability claims; experience in property and auto/cargo (physical damage) lines is a plus. Detail‑oriented, adaptable, and strategic in decision‑making. Understanding of technical claims proficiency and execution of best claim practices. Ability to work independently, multi‑task and remain self‑motivated in a fast‑paced environment. Innovative, dynamic and growth mindset. Good verbal and writing skills for internal and external communication, presentations and reporting. Good analytical thinking, advocacy and negotiation skills.
