Join to apply for the Flexible Residential Support Worker role at Calderdale Council. Calderdale Residential Service continues to thrive and is expanding its homes across the borough. We are recruiting staff to work in one of our 3‑bed maximum homes, providing care and support to Children and Young People aged 8‑18. In line with Ofsted stipulations, candidates must be over the age of 23. Applicants should have experience working with children and young people who have experienced trauma. Shifts will be flexible and predominantly include weekend work. Key duties and responsibilities Build relationships with Children and Young People. Keep young people safe and make informed decisions to safeguarding others. Ensure Children & Young People’s needs are holistically met. Support Children and Young People in making informative decisions about their life. Respond swiftly to the needs of Children & Young People. Undertake administrative tasks using IT. Compose reports for and on behalf of Children & Young People. Manage and overcome challenging situations. Work in a team consistently towards a common goal. Commit to Mandatory, Formal and Informal Learning. Demonstrate experience of building relationships with young people and connecting to their needs to ensure they feel listened to and understood. Be motivated, energetic, charismatic, enthusiastic and have a sincere ambition for Children & Young People, self and colleagues to thrive. Role‑model positive parenting behaviours and collaborate with professionals to advocate for the young person. Qualifications and requirements UK driving licence, holding a Category B licence for at least 2 years. Level 3/4 qualification in Children, Young People and Families Practitioner, or willingness to work towards and achieve this within 2 years of employment. Experience in environments with Children & Young People who have experienced trauma. Over the age of 23. Must be able to work flexible shift patterns, including weekends. Company Benefits And Rewards 29 days annual leave (34 after 5 years continuous service) plus Bank Holidays (pro‑rata). West Yorkshire Pension Scheme. Typical rota hours 07:30‑22:45 with sleep‑over shifts. Additional hours available on an optional basis. Use of company vehicles for work purposes. Full training and Level 3/4 qualification funded by CMBC.
